I did check with a friend that is a pretty high up member of PSA, and her comment was that since I only added to what was already in the image that it would be okay. Adding that area could have been done by expanding the canvas and using the clone tool that certainly is permitted. (That would have taken a lot more time and work.) But that is her opinion. Follow the rules as you understand them. I am not competing in PSA salons anymore and so don't plan to use this image that way. |

As far as I know, you can use the AI generator for open categories, but I will try and find out more. Thanks for your editing. |

Why do you need to retain a ratio of 16:9? Unless you want a certain ratio for a print I can see no reason for maintaining a certain ratio. |

It is good to see you try new techniques -- it keeps us learning and interested in photography. It must have been a calm day, as I don't see much movement in the boats or trees. The slow shutter speed made the water look very smooth. You have great depth of field, from front to back, and the image is sharp. You have a nice peaceful image. |

Thank you for showing us this historical location. I really like the symmetry of the image and the wooden pathway leading straight to the arches. You do have great depth of field -- it is sharp from front to back. I think the figurines on the right add to the image. I do think that the very nice sky is drawing from the subject, and you should crop some of it off. Using an extreme wide angle lens has created an interesting perspective. |

Great image of this poor robin. It is very sharp and I agree with you that the expression is perfect for the wet weather. I like the shallow depth of field and think that your choice of f5.6 is perfect. More depth of field would have more of the surrounds in focus and the out of focus tail doesn't bother me at all. You even have a nice catch light in the eye. |

The image is very clean for the high ISO. The image is great, you captured the bird singing, and at an angle. It is also sharp with great depth of field to have the background completely blurred. I like the branch in front of the bird, it adds balance. I would not change a thing. |

A great find and your capture is very good. The depth of field is very good, the sharpness is very good, and the composition is very good. The image also tells a good story. I do like the brightening that Judith did. |

Thank for your comments and those of Hoshedar. I used the expansion in Photoshop Beta to add space on the right, and selected the log above the alligator and filled it in with the generate tool. I also did a bit more cleanup in the background. The expansion tool is really good. |

You have an elegant looking image. The flower in the color version looks completely blown out, so your editing and conversion is a huge improvement. I think the grey blobs help the image. I was in a flower slide study group (yes slides that we mailed around) and at that time almost all of the experienced photographers in the group wanted something in the background and not solid black. |

Going to monochrome was a good choice, as the red is over powering. Your crop improved the image, and I don't think that the items on the book shelf are a distraction as they add to the photo being taken in a study or library. The dancer has a nice pose, and I especially like the curve of her body. Overall, and nice image. |

The first paragraph in the PSA Statement on Subject Matter - applicable to all sections has the following sentence, "Under no circumstances may a living creature be placed in a situation where it will be killed, injured or stressed for the purpose of obtaining a photograph." You can decide how that fits with your image. |

That is an interesting hobby and good to preserve history. You did a good job of capturing the bridge and conversion to mono. I wonder about removing your car, but it does provide a point of interest and takes the eye straight through the bridge. I do like the rust in the color version. |

Thank you for the story about what she is doing. Going to monochrome does help simplify the image, which has a lot going on. I think if you had been lower, it would have been a better image. I sounds like you have a wonderful summer trip planned, and I hope that you take some great photos to share with us. Be safe travel on your journey. |

It is interesting, but I think that you were harassing the animals. It would be illegal here in Missouri, even if you were not hunting them with a gun. |

Hummingbirds are also hard to capture sitting still, because it seems that they never sit still very long if ever. If we did not know how small a hummingbird is, the size of the thorns on the branch would inform us. Yes, the beak being open is a help, and you have a great catch light in the eye. The front of the bird is super sharp, and I think that the unsharp areas on the wing and tail are from depth of field. I would not have noticed this if you had not pointed it out as my eye went straight to the birds eye. I think that your brightness and contrast are very good. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I did darken them some, but then decided to lighten the entire image, so some of the darkening of the background was lost. |

Very interesting grouping of brass, with the nut being the center of interest. I like that the stacks of washers are not completely straight which adds to the interest. I think that your back light is too strong so that the left side of the right stack of washers is blown out. The backlight did light up the inside of the washer which is good and if that is what you want, maybe try another way to do that. The black background is good, and your 13 focus stacked images did provide great depth of field. |

The focal point and depth of field are perfect. The front three petals are super sharp, the three back petals are nicely blurred to put all of the attention on the front, and the background is nicely blurred. Of course the water drops are a real help, I would not change a thing. |

A very nice image of the sleeve patch, with lots of textures. The patch is showing signs of wear and I like the loose thread at the bottom left. Having the flag at an angle is good. Of all of the items that you might have found in a fire station, I think that you picked a winner. I would not change a thing. |

I am another fan of old rusty things. This looks to me like this a trunk, and the owner had added a wire coming out of the key hole to open it. An item added like that really adds to the interest of the image. I am torn between cropping off the top to put more interest into Ford, but the rust area at the top is nice -- so maybe it is best the way you cropped it. I like the image, and hope to see some more from your workshop. Cindy's image does add pop to it. |

Your search found a very good location. You took advantage of finding the location to combine both focus stacking and HDR to get the general effect that you wanted. I would never thought of using content aware scale to compress an image. That said, all of your shots taken in the field and your editing created a very good image. I think that the stark black and white is a great way to go. How cold was it while you were planning and taking all of those images? |
