7 Feb 23 Reply Thanks, it helps to have a very sharp lens (35mm equivalent of 50mm), and excellent in camera stabilization. The city did a nice job of decorating for Christmas. A vacant street would have looked better, but taking that would have been past my bed time. Feb 16th
7 Feb 23 Reply Thanks. My camera has very good image stabilization which really helps. Feb 16th
7 Feb 23 Comment Very dramatic image with all of the rifles up in the air -- perfect timing on you part. The shutter speed stopped all of the motion. You did a very nice job with the sky to make it blue. I like the crop. One suggestion would be to get rid of the sign on the far right. It draws my eye from the rifles, maybe because of the bright colors and placement. If you wanted to use the image for PJ, you could crop the sign off. Feb 14th
7 Feb 23 Reply I used Topaz Sharpener AI and then levels adjustment in Photoshop. Your histogram was very far to the left (dark). I also used a mask so that the orange/brown leaf on the right was not made brighter. Feb 13th
7 Feb 23 Comment You have created an interesting image and used selective focus to bring out some of the areas. You have a moody image, and more depth of field would totally change the image. I do think that it is a bit too dark, and did some editing to brighten it. Feb 13th
7 Feb 23 Comment Your editing really improved the image. It is a beautiful location, and I see why you keep coming back to take images. The green and blue colors are appealing, and the hazy mountains in the background are good. I like Paul's suggestions on cropping. Feb 13th
7 Feb 23 Comment An unusual closeup of the flower, that adds interest. The shallow depth of field and the sharpness of the pistils makes them the main subject. I would say that you accomplished what you were trying to do. As mentioned above, removal of the spots would help the image. Feb 13th
7 Feb 23 Comment A beautiful location, and the light coming in the window adds to the image. The chandelier at the tops keeps the eye moving up and down in the image. I like that the left side is brighter than the right, so that the darker area helps hold the eye in the image. I would not change a thing. Feb 13th
7 Feb 23 Reply Good idea, but there was traffic on the road, and I wanted to stay safe. Feb 13th
7 Feb 23 Comment Thanks. There were cars parked, because it was only 6:30 but it got dark really early. I did have to wait for cars driving on the street to pass. Feb 5th

26 Feb 23 Comment Nicely done image with the dew covered spider web very sharp, and the out of focus building showing location. Feb 16th

32 Feb 23 Reply That is not much of a trail! Interesting shot with the man behind your vehicle looking at something. Feb 14th
32 Feb 23 Comment You have a busy image. Going to monochrome helps reduce that by not also having various colors. I agree with Diana that, if the shadows are what you like, then you need to crop off the top areas and some of the right. Feb 13th
32 Feb 23 Reply Sorry, yes, and I just corrected the spelling. I think that the rope could also be used to move the cannon by the crew. Feb 12th
32 Feb 23 Reply It was on a civil war cannon that was on display. The rope has attachment parts on the trail of the cannon, and could be used to pull the cannon. I have added an image of the whole rope. Feb 12th
32 Feb 23 Reply Stephen, I would not change it, let the members give comments on it as it is. I think that I am extra observant, have helped with some PSA salons and being a judge. Feb 11th
32 Feb 23 Comment Very good conversion to monochrome with good contrast. I like the color image, but the monochrome is much sharper. You captured a location most of us will never see, and did so with good lighting and a nice sky. Thanks for telling us about what you had to do to get to this location. I do like Stephen's crop, as it gets rid of some distractions at the bottom. Feb 11th
32 Feb 23 Comment The lighting brings out the texture. You did a really good job of straightening the image. It is pretty monochromatic, but I can see some blues and maybe orange in the image for which most judges would disqualify it. That said, it is fine for this study group and the natural color is good. Feb 11th
32 Feb 23 Comment A very sharp image and good composition. It does not bother me that the reflection is not mirror like, it shows that there is some movement to the water. I thought about suggesting removing the items in front of the bird, but decided that leaving them was good, as that shows more about the location. As Wes mentioned, the catchlight in eye is good. Feb 11th
32 Feb 23 Comment The front man looks menacing enough to me -- his eyes seem cold and without emotion. The lighting is very good, and I do not see any shadows behind them that is usual with flash. They also have some lighting from behind which helps separate them from the background. And the background is very good. The second man is slightly out of focus which makes him less important and it does not bother me that he is not looking at the camera. I would not change a thing, and score it high. Feb 11th
32 Feb 23 Reply You do know your ropes; interesting to me to how good of a job that they did with the ropes. I just thought that they looked interesting. Thanks for the suggestion with the corner. Feb 3rd

44 Feb 23 Reply I love the image and I also am amazed by the adjustment that you did. I had not heard about Delete and Fill. Isn't it similar to Content Aware Fill? Feb 21st

57 Feb 23 Reply A lot of antique furniture had locks. I have an antique dresser and chest of drawers, and every drawer has a lock. It could be that this sewing machine had a lock to keep children out of when it was closed. Feb 28th
57 Feb 23 Reply Yes, that is nice. Feb 24th
57 Feb 23 Comment Very nicely done. The sea fan is very sharp and it is obvious that it is a sea landscape, but that the background is blurred. A suggestion would be to straighten the horizon. Feb 21st
57 Feb 23 Comment Interesting subject and the blue light really catches the eye. Since you were on a tripod, you should have used a smaller aperture, such as f11 to get more depth of field and try and get the front of the glass sharp. I like Chuck's suggestion for more bubbles. Feb 16th
57 Feb 23 Comment No, I do not think that you cropped too much, the tight crop is good. For some subjects the light background would be a distraction, but it works well to show separation from the bright red and green. I like the lighting as it shows some shadows and highlights. Feb 16th
57 Feb 23 Comment Interesting looking bug. Glad that you had a camera handy. You did a really good job in editing. It is a shallow depth of field, but the front of the bug and the eye are sharp which is important. I like Cindy's crop. Feb 16th
57 Feb 23 Comment Really great image of the very good looking old camera. It is super sharp from front to back. You did an excellent job of light painting. Feb 16th
57 Feb 23 Comment I like the subject, also. It must be a very old barn to have so much of the red paint gone. I done see any improvements to be made. I disagree with Bob; you don't want to straighten it, as the slight angle adds to the interest. Feb 16th
