1 Aug 22 Comment The image really caught my eye. The people inside add interest, and also show about our modern society, with 3 not taking in the great view. Aug 16th
1 Aug 22 Comment Very creative. It looks like an old truck driving down the dusty road. Aug 16th
1 Aug 22 Comment Great closeup of this unusual spider. Your focus stacking made it sharp from front to back. Aug 16th

4 Aug 22 Comment Great sharp image, with the front owl looking toward you, and the back owl looking at the front owl. Aug 16th

5 Aug 22 Comment Great image of a beautiful location. The 2 people on the log really add to the image. I am glad that you took the others out. It does look cold! Aug 16th

7 Aug 22 Reply Rich, I like what you did with the image. Aug 28th
7 Aug 22 Reply Tony, I think moving the lady helps the image. Aug 28th
7 Aug 22 Reply Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Actually, I have a trip planned to Parke County. It looks like a really nice area with some old barns, etc., besides the covered bridges. It is less than 300 miles up there, so will be an easy trip. Aug 21st
7 Aug 22 Reply Yes, I use Topaz Denoise and sharpener, and they are great. I am impressed that the image was hand held. It is very sharp. Aug 16th
7 Aug 22 Reply It must be about right on the contrast, you want less, and Hoshedar wants more saturation. Aug 16th
7 Aug 22 Comment A very lovely backyard. Your processing did even out the cart and the cow. It was good to have removed the crane. I like the crop to get rid of some of the bottom as the indentures in the lawn were a distraction. A very peaceful image. I am wondering if you should take out the small red flowers by the cart handle -- they seem to draw my eye. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Comment Your processing really brought out the color of the sunset. The partial sun really adds to the image. The layers of clouds are what really makes this image, I think. It does not bother me that you do not have much of the trees at the bottom, as you have enough to make the base. You cropped off quite a bit of the sky at the top, but I would crop off a bit more, down to just above the puffy looking cloud in the top center. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Comment I think that you need all of the elements. The trees give it some framing. The young woman adds interest, scale and geographic placement. I am not sure how to correct the tilt of the tower. The fact that the woman is cut off does not distract for me. It is too bad that the tree is in front of the top of the tower. I would use the healing tool to get rid of some of the dead branches in the lower part of the center tree. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Comment You did a really great job of selecting and combining the 2 images. It does look like they are talking to each other. You also made the birds more colorful. The bird on the right looks a bit less sharp, but that is realistic, as they are further from the camera and depth of field would make them more blurred. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Comment Really nice very sharp image, with a blurred background. Hard to imagine that you took it at ISO 3200, as I can see no noise. The feather is a nice touch. You didn't say, but you are either very steady, or had the camera on a tripod. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Comment I agree that black and white is the way to go, for one thing, the red locomotive would distract, and also you created a more old time image this way. It also looks like your black and white brought out some details in the sky. I am glad that you got some wording on one of the cars, and it does not bother me that the last letter is partially missing. It looks like a very interesting place to photograph. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Reply Yes, it was taken about 3:00 in the afternoon. It is too far from home to conveniently take during the golden hour. And you are right, I should use a polarizer. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Reply Thanks for the suggestion. Aug 15th
7 Aug 22 Comment Thanks Paul. I wanted to take it just a bit off center, to show the detail inside. It was nice on the other side, they were mowing over there, and it is a very nice and well kept up location. It is just off a busy highway with the bridge that replaced this one. Since the bridge is blocked off from traffic there are not all of the safety signs on it that these old bridges have if traffic is allowed on them. Aug 2nd

32 Aug 22 Comment A very well lighted image, with good depth of field and sharpness. To me, the cut glass vase distracts from the delicate flowers. Thanks for telling us about growing orchids and yours. Aug 16th
32 Aug 22 Comment The image as presented is more of a character study, while the later crop tells more of a story. I think that monochrome is the way to go, as the colors draw from the story. The image is something that you would see in a newspaper, when everything was black and white. Aug 16th
32 Aug 22 Comment I can't really tell what the monochrome is, but the color shows that it is a bubble. It must have been a fun outing to take this image. Aug 16th
32 Aug 22 Comment Nice image of the dog, with everything in the face, including the nose and ears, being very sharp. He looks like he is anxious to go. I like the monochrome better. As has been previously mentioned, it is too bad that you lost part of the one ear. I would tone down the ring on the collar. Aug 16th
32 Aug 22 Comment Interesting photo, and I agree with going to monochrome as the bright colors distract from the story. I don't understand steampunk, as they seem to be dressed in old time outfits, but the steampunk additions while they may be old time objects, they are not used like they would have been. You have good posing, and they are interacting by both checking their watches. The hands of the man on the right first catch your interest, but then there is a lot going on in the photo, that keeps interest as the eye wanders around. The bag really doesn't bother me, and would not have been noticed if Stephen had not pointed it out. Aug 16th
32 Aug 22 Reply As I recall from the history of the fort, no one ever attacked it. Like I said, this is a reconstruction of the original that was destroyed by a flood on the Mississippi. The area was taken over by the British probably not too long after the original fort was built. Aug 7th
32 Aug 22 Reply Maybe I did not get it completely level, or it is not quite head on. I am attaching a photo of the outside of a tower. Aug 7th

52 Aug 22 Comment How fortunate to find 2 butterflies both sitting still, and in the same focal plane. I am lucky to find a single butterfly being still. Great shot, and it does show both the front and back of the wings. Aug 16th

57 Aug 22 Reply I like them both. Aug 28th
57 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, and yes, close-up is a vague term. Aug 18th
57 Aug 22 Reply No, from the top. Aug 18th
57 Aug 22 Reply Closer shot of the firing pin. Aug 18th
57 Aug 22 Comment This is not a macro shot, my lens does not focus that close. As I remember, it was 2 or 3 inches long. I am adding a full canon image, with the firing pin circled, and then a closer image. They said that the canon is not quite full size, it is a reproduction. They made an opening in the powder bag with a poke, put the cap in the opening, and fired the canon using a lanyard. I have an extra interest in artillery, since I was a lieutenant for 2 years, and was with a 155mm artillery battery for several months in Vietnam. It was also separate loading, except that the projectile was put in first from the back of the canon, then the powder, and then the firing cap. Just the opposite of the Civil War canon. Aug 18th
57 Aug 22 Comment The pattern on the leaf is very good, and the water droplets add a lot of interest. I think that you would have better composition if you flipped the image. Aug 16th
57 Aug 22 Comment You put the insulator in a good spot for composition, by cropping in. It is very sharp, and the spider webs help the image. Your processing is very good, to bring out the detail in the wood, and to make the sky better. Aug 16th
57 Aug 22 Comment Very sharp center area of flower. The water droplets add to the image. The lighting is not too harsh, and makes the water droplets sparkle more. Since you have cut off some of the petals, maybe crop in from the right, cutting off just a part of the first petal. That would make the center of the flower more important. Aug 16th
57 Aug 22 Comment Nicely done candid portrait, of an attractive young lady. The balloon colors add some accent colors to her face, which adds to the image. It was nice of them to bring the party to you. Aug 16th
57 Aug 22 Comment Very well done close up of this very small item. It is very sharp and well lighted. Changing the background really helps it. Aug 16th
57 Aug 22 Comment I like old rusty things also, so of course I like this. You took it at a nice angle (not horizontal) that adds interest, and your small aperture allowed it all to be in focus. The lettering shows us what it is. I would not change a thing. Aug 16th
57 Aug 22 Reply This firing pin was only a couple of inches long. I really like the camera, I upgraded from the Olympus E-M1 Mark II, and it has more features in about the same size. I need to learn how to use some of the new features. I am not sure if the upgrade from the M1X would be worth it, from what I have heard about the M1X. Aug 11th

90 Aug 22 Comment Perfect focus, the bugs very sharp, and the flowers in front and behind out of focus, and the background is nicely blurred. The small red flower in the lower left takes attention from the bugs. Maybe crop off the bottom to just past it. Aug 15th
