Almost all of these events take place at night, in poor lighting. So, it is hard to get a lot of stop action even with a camera that has fairly good low light capabilities. This event was rare that it was in the daytime. Yes, it was held in the early afternoon, but at least the sun was in front of the riders. |

Really nice capture, with the cat looking at you. Your crop is good. Cutting off the cat's back is not the best, but I can see why you did it and it is okay. I darkened and desaturated the red flower, and also the red pole behind the cat. I used Hues and Saturation to target the red, and then a mask to only effect the reds. I also got rid of the white behind the cat. |

The lighting is really great, and the sun burst in the upper right is really good composition. The star colors are fine. Bringing back detail in the people in the foreground is very good. Overall, a very pleasing image. You might want to crop off the couple walking out of the image. They are kind of a distraction. |

I like the image as presented. The moon looks good, and the foreground an ocean adds depth of field. You were rewarded for getting up so early. |

The capture of the pelican with the water splashing and also the reflection is great. I do not notice any noise at this resolution. You left a lot of room around the pelican, but since it is not uniform black, it is effective. The effect is known as "negative space". NIK define can help with noise. Topaz Denoise is better, and Photoshop camera RAW is getting better at getting rid of noise. Since noise is more evident in dark areas, you can use a mask to only reduce noise in the lighter areas, like the pelican. |

Nice shot with the pair in synch. The legs are darker, and the eye looks for the legs, so I would not blur around them. If you did that you would have an unnatural effect, that would not look good. Why did you use such a high ISO? You did not need 1/4000 of a second. The noise is distracting. |

I go to PJ events with my wife, Carol, but do not like to compete with her too much. I did compete in PJ salons to get my 5th star (288 acceptances) but have not competed since I got to that level. |

It looks like a tubing that was used to load grain from the elevator onto a truck, or a train car. |

I don't know if IR would be a good idea, because white grass and trees would take away from the markers. |

The lighting really makes this image, and I like the composition with the mill in the upper right. The hills in the background in the sunlight adds to the image, as does the area of blue sky. I would clone out the square area in the middle left side. For some reason, my eye is drawn to it. |

What an interesting location, and I like your composition. The trees and every thing looks very grey. Conversion to mono would be good, and I like what Rick did. |

It sounds like Rick has the cause and solution. It is a really great image with the lighting. I used "hues and saturation" to adjust just the yellows. Maybe it helps some. It is a really great image, and deserves some more work to improve it. |

What a beautiful, classic image. The only very small thing that I would change is to clone out the log? in the lower right -- it is drawing my eye. |

The image looks very natural. Interesting image, with just the small area of light hitting the rim. I would not adjust the light. |
