But I have to concur with the comments about the background, we can not choose the background for images such as this, but the suggestions others have made are good.I think the background brightness of the original is better I like Joes crop. 17 Dec 19 Comment Very moody and mono suits the subject.I like the steam bottom right but I am intrigued as to its source.I think the breakdown crane makes a more interesting foil to the person than would a locomotive. I have to agree over the dark wheels. Dec 12th

I do wonder if it might have been possible to catch the train in motion but not fully across the frame in other words with a space for it to move into. does that make sense.Or is even possible. 19 Dec 19 Comment I like your crop, it makes for a much better composition. The colours have for me become a little intense in processing, making the reds a little too much in the face. But overall a nicely seen picture. Dec 15th

19 Dec 19 Comment Using a splash of colour with mono is a common trick. This one works because in the main the colours are subdued except for that small amount of red on the childs hat.I like it. a simple picture that tells a story, but which is the pupil. Dec 15th
19 Dec 19 Comment The illuminated church makes a very interesting picture on its own, great shapes and colour. Then you add to the mix a few people for scale and interest in just a perfect spot. finally to top it all we have the reflections in the puddles. Dec 15th
