The immediate impact in this image is the colour of the flower. Then we get the delicate butterfly to add some contrast. There is a touch of softness and Dick has explained what can be done. |

Very simple and well composed and taken. I like the shapes and the colours. Then we get a bonus of the well placed bird, which if you look closely at the cross seems to be a well used perch. |

A well composed and taken image of the mill. I like the choice of shutter speed for the water. A shame it was not working, but your explanation tells us why. |

A bit of humour creeping in here, and I like it. For once I can say I know the location. Well seen and taken. |

Yes I see the point on the contrast it could be a bit better. Maybe I should have used the original colour image. |

The branch with the red leaves makes this so much different to a straight image of the waterfall. Whatever the shutter speed was it looks about right for me. Well worth the tromp through the woods. And tree hugging is not all that bad. |

Yet another interesting picture from your industrial series.
I like the wear and marks on the metalwork from wrenches and spanners. I like the damaged red paint work on the valve. A simple still life which looks great. This one should definitely be in colour. |

I like this just the way it is. Monochrome suits the image perfectly. |

A great atmospheric image. I like the moment you have caught with the rider and his whip. The dust and light are superb. That red cape was just perfect for a photographer. |

I like the composition of this, and the background is nicely out of focus. The colour of the flower even complements the colour of the butterfly. |

I have to agree with the crop suggested by Herb and Bob.As Herbs image shows it makes it much stronger.Well seen. And again apologies for the turn through ninety degrees. |

I like the cropping, it does not bother me that the wing is clipped. I like the fact that the chick in the water appears to be looking up and wondering why it does not get a ride.
You wanted to get the eye drawn to the chicks and you have succeeded. |

Thank you for the comments and ideas. I forgot to add that I had used a polarizing filter on the original. |
