Nice one, Isaac. It is certainly an appropriate sky and makes a better image. I'll have to look through my sky pictures to see if I have anything similar. |

I thought there would be a good reason! Good choice. |

Gary, my question was not about focus stacking, but whether or not you could change the colour of that bit of orange flora to green so that it would not be distracting. |

I visited Cuba some years ago and found the people were very friendly. This gentleman is clearly delighted to be able to show off his achievements, and quite rightly so. Your picture has captured his mood very well and your supporting images help to complete the story. Just a pity that you missed his elbow at the LH side. |

Super shot Ian. The boat is very sharp and well exposed. The water spray gives a good feeling of speed. My only comment is that it is a pity that the cloud of spray is chopped off at the top. I don't think it matters so much about the spray at the left of the image. |

Nice one Erik! All sharp and well exposed. Very beautiful flower. Why is it regarded as a weed? |

Well caught, Vella. You grabbed a great opportunity and got the bee sharp. I thought the big white out-of-focus bloom in the foreground was overpowering the image so I took it into ON1 RAW and toned it down. I also brightened up the bee and the background a little. I left the sharp white flower alone as the bloom the bee was aiming for. All done very quickly so not perfect I'm afraid. |

Bill, that was lucky you forgot to reset the camera because a single shot would almost certainly not have had enough depth of field. As it is, you have a very sharp frog with sharp foreground and a well out-of-focus background. Great shot. Just one very small point. As a pictorial image, that little bit of orange/brown grass under Kermit's right foot is a bit distracting. Could you change it to green along with a very small bit upper left? I don't know if it would be allowed in a nature competition, but it would help in Open or Pictorial. |

Thanks for your comments Vella. I need to be careful selecting a more interesting sky because the castle has shadows, showing that the sun was shining. I need to find an interesting sky that still has some sunshine in it. The picture would not look right with a stormy sky and sunshine on the building. |

You got a good one here, Gary. You have got the two ladies sufficiently sharp to be the visual focus of the image. They are supported by the vivid colours of the blurred lights and other objects. As Isaac says, the only way to success is to keep shooting. Happily, in this digital age that doesn't cost anything. The best approach is to identify one subject (eg the two ladies) as it comes round and to try to hold it in the same place in the frame during the exposure. When you are shooting something that goes round in a circle, the subject moves slowly across the frame as it approaches you, speeds up as it passes and then slows down as it recedes. Not easy but keep shooting! |
