Ian, I think you have got a very good shot from a difficult environment. The contrasty and cluttered background do you no favours at all, but you have managed to get a good clean image of this gentleman in some very colourful and interesting attire. I do hope you got some more including a portrait with that wonderful hat. |

I love the shape of the onion with the curve of the greenery seeking to grow upwards. Somehow it knows to grow against gravity to find the light which is normally above. The light painting has worked very well with the highlight on the bulb and the gently textured background. |

Nice example of photojournalism Erik. The expression on the young man's face makes you wonder what he is thinking. I agree about the difficulty with people in the background, so I took this into ON1 RAW and applied a Depth Mask to select the background and applied a Blur filter. I had to paint on the mask to get what I wanted. Then using the same mask I darkened the background a little. Maybe I should have lightened the foreground too, but this was just a five minute edit. |

Vella, I like the idea behind this shot but I find the sunburst just a bit too overpowering. Maybe a few paces to the right would have hidden most of the sun and reduced both the overall contrast and the chromatic aberration. In these circumstances it can be a good idea to try several shots with varying amounts of sun in the shots. I think the scenery is superb and the composition just right. |

What a splendid fun image! Well done for thinking quickly and firing off a burst to get the best moment. I have noticed that smoke from these electronic cigarettes is more dense that that from tobacco cigarettes, making a much better image.
Judging by the state of the paintwork on the building, I would guess that business is not too good! |

Gary, an interesting record of cultural history, and nicely presented. I assume that the Caloosahatchee Indians did not have a written language so what we are seeing is the interpretation of the sounds using the English/American alphabet. It is important not to lose this part of your cultural heritage. |
