Vella, I find if I blink while looking at the image, the steps jump from being grey on top to white on top, or vice versa. |

The world needs good natured humour!
I'm a little better than I was Ian. Thanks for asking. |

What do you mean, "Sir Ian"? I would have thought it would be Earl of Hoylake at the very least! Although pointing a fully armed Canon at HM probably knocked off a few Brownie points! Now if it had been a Nikon it might have been different! |

Gary, I like your idea. I did have similar thoughts but took them further in my mind. If you look at the image as you see it in your version, the grey tiles are the tops of the steps and you have placed the shoes on them. However, you only have to stare at the image and then blink to find that the white tiles have become the tops of the steps. I was thinking along the lines of shoes coming down on the grey steps as you have it, plus shoes going up on the white steps just to add confusion! I just haven't got around to doing it yet. |

Great shots, Ian. HM looks very regal and very convincing. Sir W looks like he is not quite happy with your new fangled art machine! Seriously, they are both well lit and sharp and nicely posed. You obviously have a good rapport with the nobility and royalty! |

Erik, your reactions are second to none to have captured this moment. The black Grackle looks like a guided missile hurtling towards the attacking Caracara which has just started to turn in an attempt to avoid the missile. Pin sharp, well framed and another winner. |

Great piece of work, Vella. This is the sort of image that works best as a b/w. Sharp and dramatic. I like the contrast between the skeletal structure and the old buildings behind. I think there is plenty to look at in the complexity of the structure without the distraction of the contrail and clouds. I would just crop that off. |

It is quite remarkable what can be done on a mobile phone camera these days. Good composition with the wet path leading up to the building, and lots of clear detail on the building.I think the wet path and reflections add sparkle to the image and there is, in my view, a second image just in the reflections.
I think you may have just slightly overdone the perspective correction on the building. It looks wider at the top than at the bottom.
I agree about night shots looking better in b/w. |

Agree totally with Bev! Great location, good close-up, pin sharp, love the water droplets. Super shot. |

Gary, you did a lot of work here and it paid off. Your main image works very well although I'm inclined to agree with Isaac that there may just be too much to look at. A simpler crop works better, but I think you could pick any two or three blue flowers with their associated gerbera droplets and get a nice composition. It is a pity that one droplet in the middle of the image is 'hiding' behind the stem. |
