Hi Ian. Nice to hear from you again. Thanks for your comments. A dark vignette? I never thought of that. I like your creative work on Group 18. |

I think you are right there, Ian. There were coaches arriving to drop people off. The coaches would then drive to a coach park at the other end of the road leaving the people to walk through to the other end. We got there fairly early to beat the coaches but there were still a lot of people arriving by car.
Yes, I must print this sometime. THanks for the compliments. |

Hi Stephen
Thanks for looking in. I too would have liked it with no people. However, because it is a location used in a TV series, it is overrun with tourists. This was about as quiet as it got. I did have one brief moment when there was nobody in view and just as I pressed the shutter someone walked past me from behind, straight into my shot! I did wonder about cloning people ot, but decided in the end that there was not enough unobstructed background from which to clone. THanks for your comments. |

Ian, if you are nuts then so am I. I like it very much. The hard lines of the bike stand out well against the softer, coloured background. The pink on the bike matches the pink on the wall and what luck to get the valve lined up with the green stripe on the wall (or did you set that up?). Well spotted! |

Nicely framed and good choice of shutter speed. Getting the right shutter speed to give silky flow but avoiding milky flow can be quite tricky as it depends sp much on the flow rate of the water. I agree with Vella about the good combination of the yellow aspens and the blue water. Choice of viewpoint has given a satisfying zig-zag of the flow from top right to bottom left. |

Thanks for your comment, Vella. Wizard of Oz is a nice thought. I too would have preferred only one person on the road. I did consider trying to get rid of all but one, but there were too many to be able to clone successfully. Maybe if there had only been two or three I could have cloned out the extra ones. However, this was as good as it got. Most of the time the road was crowded with people meandering along. |

Thanks for your input Gary. Your changes are quite subtle and do achieve what you wanted. Nice interpretation. |

Thanks Isaac. I didn't think of Halloween, but I can see it now you have pointed it out. It is interesting to get other people's interpretations which can sometimes bring out aspects that we did not see ourselves when we took the shot. |

Super face-on shot of the tiger looking tired. It sums up what we all feel at the end of a long day, and maybe after a good meal! It is is sharp and well framed but a pity its face was in deep shadow. I took it into Photoshop (quite old PS) and tried Select Color Range using the 'Add' eye dropper to select the face, and then I added a Curves layer to create a visible mask. This also selected some parts of the background too, so I went into the mask and tidied it up using black or white paint brush as appropriate. Then I used the RGB Curve to brighten the shadowed face. I also used the Blue option to pull the blue curve down a little to add yellow, and the Red option to lift the red curve slightly to make the colour right. Finally, I made another Curves layer and applied the same mask, but inverted it. This enabled me to pull the curve down to darken the background. It was all done in a few minutes so please excuse any errors in the masking. |

A good news shot documenting the irresponsible behaviour of some members of the human race. Maybe they see the signs but comprehension is lacking, or maybe they don't even see the signs. The red pickup at the left is clearly part of the story, but it draws attention away from the action at the right. I tried cropping it out to bring the attention back to the irresponsible behaviour. |

I think this image makes us humans realise that birds have thought too. I can imagine the two owls saying to themslves, "What the heck is this?" They look like they are not sure if it is a threat or not and are waiting to see if it moves. Great shot to illustrate animal behaiour. My only crit is that I would like to see more space to the left of the LH owl, but I guess this was a grab shot with not much time to frame up. |
