Another interesting interpretation! I agree mine could do with more contrast and I must apologise for the lighter bit at the RHS. I was in too much of a hurry to get something in before the deadline and I only noticed it after I had sent it off to Gary. |

Hi Gary. That's an interesting interpretation and Vella has made the same suggestion. I must try a b/w version some time. |

Ian, your image almost exudes peace and tranquility! It takes me back to my youth and canal holidays with my parents on their boat. Life just has to slow down and you learn to appreciate the peace and quiet of the countryside. Your composition is good with the boat just far enough in to allow space for the lovely water patterns in the wake. The canal curves gently round and disappears into the distance, symbolising perpetual peace. Three boats is the ideal number and, with one moored at the bank we can see that life is not encumbered with 'No Parking' rules!
For the benefit of those who are not familiar with these boats, they are know as Narrow Boats because they are only 7 feet wide to allow them to pass through the locks and bridges on these waterways which are known as Narrow Canals. Keeping the 7 foot width limit meant the costs of digging the canals and constructing the locks etc were kept to a minimum. |

That is a fascinating story to go along with the image, especially with Isaac's added comments. Lighting and pose are very good and the image is sharp. The smaoke drifting round his head brings out the atmosphere and life in the image. I can't make up my mind about the modern metal water bottle though. As a PJ image it adds to the story. but from a pictorial point of view I would clone it out. |

This is a nice piece of work, Vella. A few years ago images like this would score very highly in international salons. I haven't entered any salons for several years so I don't know what is getting in now, but I do think this would stand up well. Isaac's work to lighten the eyes has improved the image. I didn't notice any problems with the ear - the eyes are what you are drawn to. |

Bill, I have to agree with Isaac. There is no sign of distortion in your final image and your PP work to remove distractions and add flowers is very nicely done. Whilst I would not have been concerned about a plain blue sky, the one you have chosen as a replacement complements the composition well. The person on the cell phone is a test of observation for the viewer (I failed!) |

They must still be waiting to be served breakfast!
I do like a bit of humour and you have captured this scene nicely. The strong sunshine and the plain blue sky work really well together. |

Gary, the light on this rocky outcrop is excellent and the bands of colour in the image go very well together, from the subdued greens and blues in the shadow to the vibrant colours in the sunshine. I like the plain blue sky because I think puffy white clouds would be distracting. |
