I agree with Erik and Ian. I would leave it as it is. |

Vella, you are right. Now that I look more carefully at the image I see that my 'tree' is actually vegetation growing on the small bit of roof. However, it is not a chimney. It is where the bell would be located, and it is open on two faces to allow the sound to carry. The entrance porch and the bell would always be at the west end of the building, with the altar at the east end. |

Thanks for your thoughts Gary. Looks like I might have to go back some time to get some more like this! |

Gary, my monitor is calibrated every 200 hours of operation and your image looks OK to me. The white foamy water at the bottom of the main falls shows up in Photoshop as between 250 and 253 in all three channels, and the plain water further downstream looks about right at 122/112/80 R/G/B. I think it is a matter of preference as to whether you make it darker of not. |

Nice detail shot Ian. Good use of wide aperture to throw the background totally out of focus. Also, you have achieved the impossible (well nearly impossible) in avoiding a reflection of you in this very shiny subject. I have given up worrying about competition pictures. I shoot for me and if a judge likes it then that's a bonus! I hope you took other shots of this interesting bike. |

Erik, the image is sharp and clear with exceellent quality and super light. I also like the raised paddle and the reflections in the calm water. The image does say 'serenity'. If you have another image with more open space round the lone paddler, it would say 'solitude' as well. |

Thanks Bill. That's good to know about the software. I think the blue sky improves the image. |

I had an old Nikon D70 converted to IR some years ago but I rarely had much success with it. This is very attractive with the swapping of the red and blue channels, and the pale peach colour of the greens. It would be rather nice if a way could be found to get just a hint of blue into the blue sky. |

Good piece of action photography, Isaac! This one is unusual in showing a horse in full gallop with one foot still on the ground. It says something about the way horses gallop - it's not all nice and symmetrical. I normally think of the horse having two feet on the ground in full gallop or none at all. Exposure is good and it is sharp, showing good detail in the horse's body. Framing is good too. |

I will echo Isaac's comment of WOW! That was quite some marathon of post processing, but it has worked very nicely. I too thought there was a blue cast in the left hand falls, and Isaac's amendment to that has worked very well. It is not so easy to tone down the bright patch in the main falls when starting from a jpg image as here. However, going back to the original Raw files should enable you to find some detail there. It is a great illustration of this geological feature. |

Vella, as soon as I saw the thumbnail, I thought this one had to be somewhere in UK. It is a nice shot of this little Welsh chapel, and the sheep on the path tell their own story that this is way out in the countryside. It might have been good to have moved a little to get a viewpoint so that the bell 'tower' was not dirctly in front of a tall tree. Either that or clone out the tree (but then it would be no good for Travel). |

Hi John. This is my sort of picture so I recognised what it was straight away. I have done several like this in the past but never got anything as interesting as this one. Some might say it is too complicated, but I love the intricate detail and being able to follow the lines of the branches and twigs to match them with their reflections. Have you thought about trying 'Find Edges' in Photoshop on a copy layer and then playing with the blend mode? |

This is one of those occasions when a tight crop gives the best framing and concentrates the viewer's eye on the subject matter. Excellent rendition of the shiny parts - you have avoided blown out highlights with no detail. Also, well done for avoiding reflections of yourself. It's a great shot and well processed. |
