Thanks Ian. It can certainly rain a lot in the Lake district. That's why they have lakes... |

Ian, you were very lucky to have such good light, even though you missed the full moon. As Isaac says, you made a good choice in your vantage point to put the reflection of the lighthouse top in the pool. I think the horizontal symmetry works extremely well here with the lighthouse dead centre, plus the full colour spectrum from red to blue being displayed in the sky. This is the sort of sky you get when it is going to be a cold night, and the image creates that feeling in me quite strongly. You have held detail in the shadows without lightening them too much. This would make a very nice print.
You will get another full moon in about a month's time, but you may not get the right weather to go with it! |

Erik, this is a great capture of some rapidly changing action. You need rapid responses and an instintive feel of when to hit the shutter. You have caught the action very well and frozen that moment when the rider knows it is all over. I think Isaac has done a nice job in removing those annoying signs. |

Vella, I guessed it was a Kingfisher as it is very similar to the ones we have in the UK. The colours are very vivid and you have brought out that wonderful iridescence in the blue. I much prefer your reworked image as it give more space around the bird, and I am pleased you restored the branch to come from the top left corner. Now the image has good balance. Looking at the original, you did a very good job in brightening up the image in post work.
As for flipping it, well as Bill pointed out, you are talking to Dr Flip! |

We all love to find old, dilapidated things, and old vehicles in particular. This is really nice with the bright yellow grabbing the attention to take the eye into the picture. It is supported by the red surround and topped off by the blue windshield offering a glimpse through the cab to the back window. The foliage and the dappled light tell us clearly that nature is taking over. There are so many wonderful patterns in the weathered yellow bit that you could spen the rest of the day with a macro lens just photographing small details. |

Good record of a national culture. You have good separation of the man from the background by colour as well as by focus. If you could just lighten the face a little it would make him more dominant. |

Gary, thanks for your interpretation. That image was processed in Photoshop in 2015. Since then, in 2018, I traded in all my Nikon equipment and bought the Lumix G9 with a couple of Leica lenses. At the same time I went over to ON1 RAW for all my processing, which I now prefer. Nice to know there is another ON1 worker in the group! |

Great image of these falls. The wide angle has emphasised the foreground and given us a view of the whole falls. I think there are several more pictures to be taken here, going in closer on some of the details. I agree with cropping something off the bottom but no too much as there is still a lot of interesting detail there. Colours are very satisfying. |

Isaac, your adjustments make the scene much more dramatic and would certainly do better in an international exhibition. However, the light in that area in November is rarely strong and is much more subdued. It is somewhere close to 54 deg North and the sun is very low, with a lot of atmosphere to shine through at that low level. My picture is closer to what I remember at the time. Thanks for your interpretation. It's growing on me! |
