Hi Joe. Yes it is a lovely little town. I agree with you about the sky but the light was very flat and snow was starting to fall again so even if I tried to replace the sky, it would have to be overcast to match the flat light. I like your town too, and enjoyed photographing there on that occasion when we visited. |

That's unfortunate Ian. I once had it happen towards the end of a long journey, and I had to drive the last twenty miles without stopping because I knew I would never get going again. Quite tricky in traffic! |

Ian, I'm glad you are getting some time off at last. This is a great capture of some fast action. It is sharp, with even the water drops being clearly separated. Focus has been held very well. You also have a good sense of anticipation to fire the shutter at the right moment to catch the boat as it rounds the buoy. Your Photoshop work has worked well in toning down the red on the buoy. I would not have known if you hadn't mentioned it. |

Erik, the light here is just right. The birds stand out very well against the soft evening colours, and I love the perfect reflections in the still water. My only slight problem is the two birds that blend together, third and fourth from the left, especially because you can only see the reflection of the lower, nearer bird. The reflection of the other is hidden by the nearer one. I would zap the upper bird and then it looks fine - even gives you seven birds to make Isaac happy. Not something you could do for a Natural History exhibition, but OK for this group. |

Nice piece of work, Vella. The crop is just right to bring our attention directly on to this beautiful beast. You also brought him out of the shadows very well. He looks sharp at this size so very well done for a hand held shot from a moving boat. |

Bill, I wish I could get to this event. or one similar. The colours are vivid and the morning light is perfect. The plain blue sky provides a good backdrop. Sharp and colourful. |

Well I can see why it is called 'Fish Rock' and you did well to position the boat nicely in the gap between the two limestone monoliths. The image shows nicely the erosion taking place at water level, especially on the right hand rock. This will no doubt be accelerated by increasing carbon dioxide dissolving in the water and making it more acidic. Presumably the right hand rock will topple over in the not too distant future. I like the thin mist or fog helping to separate the big rocks from the background. The clouds seem to have a slight yellow cast and I feel it is nicer to take that out. If you include the blue sky in the same selection, it makes the blue stronger too. |

Great shot Joe, and it brings out what I remember about the unique atmosphere of San Francisco. This is an image which reveals more interesting and amusing details the more you look at it. I like the pigeon on the top right. Good control of perspective (all the verticals are vertical), and everything is sharp. |
