I was probably leaning against the railing on the top floor to steady myself, and my Lumix G9 does have good in-body stabilisation that works with the lens stabilisation. I am working on a couple of similar images in mono. One of them shows all three staircases so should make Bill happy! |

Congratulations Erik! I haven't got this month's Journal yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing it. |

Apologies for trespassing on your patch Ian, but once inside I just couldn't stop pressing the shutter! If you ever get over may way I'll be happy to show you some our local places - Saltburn, Staithes, Swaledale stone barns... You'll probably get better shots than any I have! |

I think it was Escher that inspired me, possibly sub-consciously. |

I didn't think of that at the time, Bill. Must go back some time. |

Ian, I'm very pleased you got out when you did. In those conditions you could easily get into serious difficulty by cutting it too fine. You can see just how high the water can get from the position of the doorway in the lighthouse!
Super shot, Ian. The lighthouse stands out very well against that threatening sky. The lighting is just perfect. I like the image as it is. |

Erik, this is superb. The only problem you have is that you set such a high standard that you have to keep it up! Seriously, this is 'the decisive moment' and the birds are pin sharp and beatifully framed. |

Vella, you have done a remarkably good job in post processing to get this result from such a low contrast and hazy original. It's a long time since I was there (1999) but I think Isaac is right about the colour of the sand. When I was there we went out at dawn but there were still fresh footprints in the dunes, even though there had been wind overnight which had wiped out the previous day's footprints!
Bill's suggestion of adding colour to the sky is good. |

An excellent piece of work, Bill. We also watched the Wabi Sabi webinar. I do agree that dead, or nearly dead, flowers have a particular beauty and you have brought that out well. I think I might have chosen a different colour for the background though, as the green is close to the colour of the stems. Maybe a pale blue with a slight gradient so that it's not uniform? |

The image brings out the wild and desolate nature of the countryside. It is also interesting to see the contrast between the two very smart crosses and the other much more basic one. Composition is good with the three crosses forming a leading line to the church which is nicely offset to the right. The low viewpoint has worked well. |

I hope you can get there, Vella. There is plenty to see in Barcelona, most of it being Gaudi themed. Another interesting building is La Pedrera which is a quirky Gaudi building. Also, the hotel over the main rail station is quite remarkable. Nothing to do with Gaudi, but it is all themed on space travel, with 'astronauts' in space suits in the reception area. (There's no people in them though). |

I'm envious, Joe. We had a visit to the Sagrada Familia when we were in Barcelona in 2018 but, shortly after we got in, I felt unwell so we didn't really get a good look round. I like the composition with the spiral staircase to one side and the interesting structure on the other side. That's a very good shot for ISO 51200. |

Thanks for the nice comments, Isaac. I did wonder about flipping it which would have made the writing even more interesting... |
