Bill, I have lots of similar images taken at this location and at another location where I concentrated solely on the abstract patterns, leaving out the mortar layer between the blocks. You can see five others on my website www.gdpx.co.uk in my ARPS panel bottom row. I just thought it would be fun to make this one into a coastal landscape. |

Isaac, your alternative view is interesting. I saw it as a headland with the blue line at the bottom being the sea. The 'grain' is simply the texture of the sandstone, so instead of trying to suppress it, I made it stand out a bit more in the post processing. I printed it on a textured art paper and it looks quite good. |

Bill, I think you are right. A light vignette would be much better. A artist starts with a plain white or very light paper or canvas so the edges would be light, not dark. |

Well it certainly looks like it was taken in the Cotswolds. The path leading in from the bottom left takes the eye straight up to the cottage and you are then free to roam round to the right and down to the base to enjoy the flowers, before getting back to the path again. The painterly effect works nicely but I think the vignette is just a bit too strong. |

Ian, the still water in the dock produces a good reflection which works well and gives good symmetry. I think that on this occasion the aircraft contrails are a happy bonus as they do seem to follow the expanding lines of the building. I agree that normally they are a curse. It is interesting to see the contrast between the new building and the old ones in the background at the right.

Erik, you call it fortunate timing. I call it quick reaction and a practised eye. The action is well caught and the sense of movement is given by the motion blur in the horse. It is a pity the ground is so red as that does tend to dominate the colour palette, but there's not much you could do about that. |

Jsaac, your shot is pin sharp and the action has been caught very well. Your post processing is very good too. I can visualise taking out that red bucket, but that big pole is another matter entirely. Very well done indeed! |

Joe, what a fascinating picture. I can see the green dragon and the blue mantle, but I can also see fluid flow with eddies. Looking longer I start to see a face at the top left in yellow with red hair....I definitely need that psychiatrist! |

Isaac, maybe you need to see a psychiatrist....
Actually, now you have pointed out the bacteria, I think I do too... |
