Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
31 Jun 19 Comment Ella, this is a well set up shot. Composition is nice and the picture tells a story. The full tonal range has been captured with detail in the black hat - quite a tricky thing to achive. Jun 25th
31 Jun 19 Comment Paul, a super shot of the waterfall. I love the way you have ignored the complete fall and just gone in on the detail of the water hitting the rocks at the base. I paricularly like the detail in the rocks at the left. Shutter speed in these situations is a very personal matter but I agree with Peter that maybe a slower shutter would have been even better. I find it is best to try a wide range of shutter speeds and then pick the one you like best. Jun 25th
31 Jun 19 Comment Ed, I hope you don't me jumping in with a comment or two. I think your crop in reply to Ella's comment is better (although maybe a little less severe at the bottom), but I would also darken the image to bring out more detail in the highlights and add a little drama. Jun 25th
31 Jun 19 Comment Rashid, I think you have created a superb portrait of this lovely young lady. The out of focus surround to her face works well and concentrates the attention on the face. I didn't find the arm distracting, probably because it blends tonally with the out of focus blossom. Jun 25th
31 Jun 19 Comment Hi John
I like it! I've tried this sort of thing myself but mine never seemed to convey the sense of concentration that you have achieved.

31 Jun 19 Reply Can I join in this one too? I have no photographic training either - everything I know has been through trial and error, and through interaction with other photographers in clubs and on forums like this. I produce the pictures that I like, colour and mono, and I encourage others to do the same. When I first joined Group 04 I was a bit overawed by the standard of photography in the group, but I was accepted and have enjoyed several years of membership. I believe we should all do our 'own thing' and have the confidence to stand by that, while at the same time listening to the helpful advice given by the other members of our group. My opinion is that these PSA Study Groups are the friendliest and most helpful groups anyone could hope to find. Great image, Peter, by the way! Jun 25th
31 Jun 19 Comment Nice one Ian. Well up to usual standard. Jun 25th
