2 Aug 18 Comment Harry, this is a picture that I wish I had taken. It is the sort of thing I love to do. I also like the street lamps. As for the moon, I guess Florida must be on a similar latitude to that of Thailand, so maybe the moon doesn't look too different. Aug 8th

4 Aug 18 Reply Many congratulations David. A well deserved HM. Aug 17th
4 Aug 18 Reply Shall we ask a judge??? Aug 11th
4 Aug 18 Reply What do judges know about photography? (I do judging so I'm qualified to comment!) Seriously, some judges in my experience seem to judge by formula rather than looking at the picture as a whole. The best comment I ever heard about a judge was, "He's had a charisma bypass!" Aug 11th
4 Aug 18 Reply Nice picture Ian. All is forgiven! Aug 10th
4 Aug 18 Comment I just had a second look at the original and noticed that I did get my feet in, so I had to clone them out! Thanks for all your nice comments about hand holding at 1/5 sec. It was a fisheye lens so it's not like holding a tele lens. Also, I was braced firmly against the handrail, so holding it wasn't too bad. I was pleasantly surprised, though, when I looked at the back of the camera to see that it was sharp. Aug 8th
4 Aug 18 Comment Congratulations Ian on your exhibition. If this image is typical it must be an outstanding show. Like Isaac, my eyes were drawn to the bright object at the bottom, which I guessed (correctly it seems) to be the top of a walking cane. Although it is part of his wonderful costume, I feel that it does distract a little. I do think that cropping it out disturbs the composition though, so I made a freehand selection, featherd it and darkened it with a Curves adjustment. Although this still leaves the highlights, I feel it removes the distraction without changing the composition. I have to say that this image has the makings of a gold medal in the international scene. Aug 8th
4 Aug 18 Comment The prairie dogs are beautifully portrayed, alert and very sharp with great backlighting to accentuate their furry outlines. The out of focus flowers in the background help the composition and contrast well with the foreground grass. The flowers in the lower left also complement the composition but could distract. Would a slight crop off the bottom help? Aug 8th
4 Aug 18 Comment Well done with the cloning and healing in Photoshop in getting rid of the second ride. That cleans up the image very nicely. I am with Isaac on the crop. That takes out the distracting lights and puts the main rider nicely in the lower right 'third' intersection. My only additional suggestion is to try the Shadows/Highlights adjustment in Photoshop followed by Curves to restore contrast. That would brighten the clouds and make the riders stand out more. 4 Aug 18 Comment Well this certainly has impact! You are clearly very good indeed at creating a stunning image from one which most of us might overlook. I do wonder if the red has been pushed just a little too far, so that it makes the viewer suspect that this is not natural. A slightly more subdued red might appear more realistic and be totally believable. Actually, on a second look, I quite like the original image in its own right too. Aug 8th
4 Aug 18 Comment Brilliant shot of the bee, Isaac! And yes I too have observed bees loaded with pollen, in our garden at home. I am impressed by the sharp focus on the bee making it the centre of attention. Composition is good too with the golden stamens seeming to rise from the bottom right corner to greet the bee with their heads lowered in submission! The rest of the flower head provides context without being distracting. Aug 8th
4 Aug 18 Comment I do like the line of the curved path leading you into the picture and then up to the building. The gate does tend to halt the eye moving ito the image for a moment or two, but it doesn't present a permanent barrier. The drystone walls are sharp and complement the visual guidance of the curved path. The background is gentle and uncluttered to give the whole image a sense of peace and tranquility. Aug 8th

31 Aug 18 Comment Great shot Ian. I was there some years ago and took a good many pictures, but I didn't manage to get this view. Aug 9th
