4 Aug 17 Reply Happens to all of us Bill. It's called Senior Moment Syndrome! I approve of your crop. Aug 10th
4 Aug 17 Reply Bill, I don't see your cropped version. Did I miss something? Aug 10th
4 Aug 17 Reply I didn't think of using HDR. I could do that by saving different exposures from the RAW file. Thanks Bill. Aug 9th
4 Aug 17 Comment A great shot Ian, and well posed. Isaac and Joe have pretty well said it all. I can't add anything more. Aug 9th
4 Aug 17 Comment The man on the left is explaining his views on something while the priest listens intently. The facial expressions and the gesture tell the story and you captured just the right moment as the man waved his arm to emphasise his point. Was he talking about world politics or the quality of the local wine? We'll never know, but I do enjoy a picture that asks questions. Nice one, Erik. I agree with Isaac's crop. Aug 9th
4 Aug 17 Comment Bill, what amazing colours and a superb reflection. The composition is great too. I like the way the red patch of light curves over towards the right to match the curve in the river. Normally, reflections are darker than the subject so I would just darken the river a little, which also helps to separate the foreground from the sky. Aug 8th

4 Aug 17 Comment What a superb sunset! You have to work quickly in these circumstances to catch all the possible compositions before the light goes. Well done in getting a good composition here, and also getting the exposure right so that the sun is not totally blown out. I agree that the people on the rocks really make the picture, so much so that you could crop out the lighthouse and some of the foreground to put them in a very strong position as in my crop. I also rotated the image a little to make the horizon look more level. Aug 7th
4 Aug 17 Comment This is an excellent capture of the pelican getting airborne. It is pin sharp and the motion has been frozen by the high shutter speed. Composition is good too with the three static birds grouped together on the left. However, the image seems a bit dull, and the histogram shows that almost all the image content lies in the lower two-thirds of the tonal range. I feel that a small boost in Curves would bring up the contrast without blowing out the highlights. Aug 7th
4 Aug 17 Comment Joe, this one is really brilliant. Definitely 'The Decisive Moment'. Even without any wording in French, it is absolutely typical of a French provincial town or village. The stance of the two elderly gentlemen tells the story without the need for any explanation. Aug 7th

5 Aug 17 Reply Hi Barbara. I've noticed odd symbols in my comments in Group 04 also. Could it be differences in keyboard language settings? Aug 9th

8 Aug 17 Comment Hi Gloria. I'm just dropping in from Group 04 and I like the simplicity and composition of this image. The differential focus is excellent. It would also make a stunning black & white if you darken the blues to make the sky almost black. Aug 9th
