Gary, I'm impressed that you managed to get a sharp image on 1/2 second hand-held, even bracing against a firm support. Well done, and definitely worth a second visit woth a tripod. I find it's a good idea to take a series of shots at shutter speeds ranging from about 1/15 down to the 1/2 second that you used here. Then you can pick the one with the best texture in the water, and even merge the best bits from several shots into one image, because the water is moving at different speeds in different places. Must be on a tripod though.

Modern high rise buildings are very tempting and you have made a good dynamic image here. The camera angle really brings the image to life and also allows the buildings to occupy a large part of the frame. The sun reflection off the top of the right hand building provides an excellent focal point. I agree with the others - lose the contrail. |

A very dramatic image, Bill, with an unworldly alien feel. I can't decide whether it is a friendly alien or a terrifying menace! The colours work well together and the presentation on the black background suits the processed image. I think this is a stunning picture and that it will grab attention whenever and wherever it is shown. |

Looks like it was a fun place to be. The colours on the dress are gentle and delightful. The pink hair goes well in the colour palette, and her pose suggests a fun atmosphere. I can't imagine why a pretty girl would want to cover her face with a surgical mask, but I guess it's just part of the fun. The image is sharp and the lighting appears diffused so that there are no harsh shadows. A very minor point is that I would lighten the shoulder slightly at the right of the image. However it's still a super picture, well done! |

Erik, you have chosen a good viewpoint, using the rusty iron arch to frame the building. Additionally, this position also takes the eye along the path directly to the building. The long shadows suggest a low sun which has given a pleasant warm light to the scene, creating gentle greens and yellows in the grass and stonework. The plain blue sky completes the tranquility of the scene. This is one case, in my view, where puffy white clouds would spoil the image. |

It's that one with the open beak that makes the image. The cropping has given a good composition and the image is (as expected) sharp and well exposed. I can't say anything more except that I might just add a touch more contrast. |

It's a classic Joe picture! The colour combination of orange and blue, with the green foliage works very well and is restful to the eye. The archway gives a satisfying structure to the image, and the bonus is the greenery on the right which is visually linked by a single curving branch to the dominant central clump of greenery. The red flowers add the finishing touch. I would just clone out that little green stem and leaves at the bottom right. |
