A great natural looking shot. You caught the bird in its environment with all the surrounding branches. You wonder how the bird manages to fly in such cluttered airspace. He is well placed in the frame and has plenty of room to fly into. It's a pity the sky was so bland as just a splash of colour would have been good. Not much you can do about that, though. The sky is what it is! |

Not for the Londoners Joe - for the tourists! Seriously, it was just an advertising gimmick to get people to go to this exhibition or whatever it was. I didn't bother to take a look. |

This image creates a very nice relaxed feeling in an otherwise somewhat frantic world. The slight softness seems to suit the image and increases the sense of relaxation. It is a beautiful bloom and well portrayed. You clearly have really nice neighbours to put this out for everyone to enjoy. |

The pose is good and very striking. This is one of those images that gets up and hits you in the face! The red uniform in the front grabs the attention and is complemented by the silvery one at the back. It is not easy to hold the details in silvery objects and avoid them either going 'muddy' or burning out, but you have achieved this very nicely here. The blocked up shadows where the eyes would be would not work in typical Venice mask shots, but here they add suitable menace to the image. We are left wondering if these are people or machines! |

Bill, you have managed to hold all the intricate detail in the white plumage as well as not blocking up any of the shadows. The bird stands out nicely against the dark green foliage, and the red berries just add a little extra to break up the green. It would be nice just to see a little bit more of the birds legs, but that's just a minor nit. |

Another superbly sharp nature shot, Isaac! Choice of camera settings has nicely blurred the background but left enough detail for us to be able to see the environment. Background colours are complementary and the bird stands out very well. I like the small drop of water just falling from it's feet. |

Nice shot Joe. There are many compositions that you could choose in a situation like this, but this one has been nicely thought out. The choice of a low angle places the hot meat in the centre of the frame and makes it the centre of attention. The smoke and steam create a good atmosphere and subdue the otherwise cluttered background. The lady at the left dominates the action while the one at the right creates the right amount of balance. It could be argued that the white overall of the lady on the right is a bit distracting, but in these circumstances you take what you've got in front of you. It's a good example of candid/journalistic shooting. |
