I like this crop very much, Ruth! To me, it becomes an intriguing image, and triggers the viewer's curiosity due to its mysterious, and unique nature of the angle of your shot. |

Thanks for your comments and your interesting questions, Andres! This shot was around 7:20 pm when all the lights were turned on at one time for the whole scenery!
I think that the rooftop was illuminated by the reflecting light under the bridge where I was standing to capture this shot. This place is a famous tourist area, I believe that they are well designed with the consistent golden lights. |

Thank you for those thoughtful remarks, Ruth! Please also see my responses to Cindy. At exactly 7:20 pm on that day, the whole scene was illuminated (I believe that the whole scene is controlled by one light switch?). I did capture some images before the lights were on, and the scenery seems to be dull ! I think that the main differences are when the scenery was illuminated. |

Thanks for your comments, Cindy! For this shot, I was on the main traffic road bridge that offers a prime, elevated view of the river and the surrounding ancient, narrow, bustling streets. We were informed that the scenery would be illuminated at 7:20 pm sharp, so we waited…This shot was among my first shots when the lights were turned on before we moved down to the ancient town below. I have both my Canon 7D II with Tamron lens 18-400mm and my cell phone, and I normally used both for each scene. Sorry that I do not know the specific camera or phone I used for this image. |

Hi Joan,
It's a beautiful and interesting shot of the almond orchard! The trees are in bloom and they look like the cherry blossoms in Washington DC. The shadows on the alleys between rows of almond trees that going upwards look like the ladder and they create a unique view of the scene.
I agree with other comments that the electricity wires should be eliminated and the ladder should be straightened. Thanks for sharing your interesting image! |

Hi Mary Ann,
Nice shot! The cute rabbit is in focus, and the image is sharp where it needs to be. I like that the rabbit was framed by the grass around. Since the animal stands still and it does not need to leave space to move forward, I wonder if you could crop tighter on the right as a square crop to eliminate the brown blade of grass. |

Hi Cindy,
Welcome to Group 3!
You have captured a beautiful image of the snow moon! The blue hour makes it an ethereal winter photo. The lighthouse is sharp, and the moon with its reflection adds an unusual perspective that makes the photo memorable. Well done! |

I like this crop, Robert! This is also what I suggested Ruth to do. As the maker, she can decide what works best for her image. |

Hi Robert,
It's a nice idea to capture a bird during the snowstorm! I like that the bird's head is turning at the camera, and his feathers are fluffed up to get warmer. Although your image was shot through the glass door and has some soft details, the depth of feeling outweighs the depth of field in this scene. It's so impactful, especially to see the bird's dinner was covered with ice!
I'd suggest to include the top of the feeder that was covered of snow to tell a stronger story! |

Hi Ruth,
Nice creative technique! Framing your image with hanging icicles creates a winter-themed for your image. The sunrays light up the mountains in the further distance and add more impact to the scene.
I'd prefer to sharpen the big hanging icicle near the sunrays a bit. I'd also suggest to crop tighter to eliminate the building balcony (?) on the top, which could evoke stronger feelings (wonder, curiosity) to the viewer, as if your image was captured from a hidden cave. |

Hi Andres,
It's a beautiful image! Your crop shows the best angle view of the flower with sharp focus, balanced lighting, and strong composition. The soft blue color of the petals leaves a good feeling for the viewer. Nicely done! |

Thank you for your keen observation, Ruth! The banners in this image are in Chinese, normally they are wishes such as "Happy New Year", "Good health and good luck". To be honest, I am not Chinese and I cannot read those banners either! LOL! I think that the banners should be in English since this lion dance was performed in the shopping mall with different audience speaking different languages. I have seen the lion dance showing its Vietnamese or English blessing banners at the end when they performed in the Vietnamese community.
For this year, Feb 17, 2026 is the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse). Happy Lunar New Year to everyone! |

Thanks for your comments, Susan! I am debating whether I should eliminate the two heads on the left and the two other people on the right corner. To me,the inclusion of people in a circle around the lion dance can help tell a powerful story rather showing a scene only. It also allows the viewers to imagine themselves in the scene. |

Hi Bill,
You've captured another interesting vertical pano image using iphone. For this image, I found that the panoramic image looks a bit distorted, compared to the pano you captured last December. The perspective on the top part of the scene appears stretching, puffs out the central objects and makes them look broader. I am not sure whether the distortion was caused by the wide-angle lens or the short distance panning.
Thanks for sharing your experiments! |

Hi Wayne,
The different colors and different shapes, patterns of the swirl make this image a beautiful abstract one! To me, abstract images focus on the visual elements like color, form, texture and motion rather than depicting a recognizable subject, so the blue turtle does not need to be recognizable in this. Thanks for sharing your nice abstract image! |

Hi Ruth,
I guess that a little snow in TX would be nice to you! We had a big snowstorm here in the metropolitan area at the end of Jan and I was exhausted from the effort of many hours of shoveling.
Your image shows a positive attitude to capture specific atmosphere of a moment. The house across the street with lights on makes the snow-filled moments warmer. I'd prefer to see your truck in full or crop tighter to eliminate it. Was this image captured through a fence (because there are some gridlines seen on the snow area)? Thanks for sharing your memorable winter moment! |

Hi Jack,
You've got a nice low angle shot with the leading red flowers to the scene! The vines look like high trees in this.
I did not know that flowers are planted to boost health to the vineyards. Do the flowers or grapes smell sweater? I wonder if those flowers are sold in the florists?
Thanks for sharing your nice shot and this information as well! |

Hi Steven,
Nice shot! Making the image background B&W while keeping the Chicago art work in color is a good choice! The Van Gogh' Starry Night effect on the painting adds the intensity in the color of the canvas and has a special mood to the artwork. |
