Hi LuAnn, Adding the deer to the right spot makes the scene more lovely! |

Hi LuAnn, Have you tried the app TouchRetouch? I saw the demo that it can remove the subject that is next to the other. I am not sure whether it can remove the entire fence that has kayaks behind it or not. |

Hi Joan,
I love your creativity in this image. I also admire your tremendous work on it: scanning from slide, and using different filter and tools to achieve it. The purple color of the flowers with edges and contours is intriguing and beautiful. The entire scene looks like the water lantern festival to me!
I'd prefer to replace or lighten the dark areas by the existing brighter colors so that all the colors would blend in better. |

Hi Ruth,
Thanks for your comments and your suggestion to darken the area under the tree. That area is probably the concrete road that leads to the pedestrian bridge at the lake. |

Hi LuAnn,
The image is very sharp and the pink color is so beautiful! I can even feel the freshness of the flowers. I like the combination of the blooming flowers on the longer stems and the three buds at the shorter ones.
I second Ruth's suggestion to darken the background more to make the beautiful pink colors of the flowers stand out more. |

Hi Mary Ann,
You've captured a beautiful scene! The creek with snow starts melting created a S curve that serves as a leading line and adds depth & perspective to the composition of your image. Bring out the green color of the trees and darken the sky help to avoid an overexposed sky.
I'd prefer to sharpen and boost the color a bit more to add more visual impact to the scene. |

Hi Ruth,
I like the angle you captured this image. I see your intention to convert into B&W but I agree with Joan that the natural beauty of the scene you were experiencing was lost in the conversion: the yellow flowers, the rocks, the waterfall, and the willows.
I'd prefer to keep the color version and to darken the top part a bit more. Since the scene looks like a Japanese painting, I'd suggest to also add a painting effect to it.

Hi Michael,
What a great shot! The lighting and the composition are well done. You've got all the elements of the beautiful night scene: blue hour, the starry sky, the lone tree, the reflection, and the stones in the lake. Your light painting experiment is excellent to illuminate the lone tree on the other side of the lake. The golden color of the tree is also a big plus to the scene.
I agree with you that leaving the tree in the vast starry sky gives the subject more weight and more attention. It's an excellent image and you should be proud of it! |

Thanks, Pat, for your comments and your keen eyes to discover a branch on the lower left side. Believe or not, I processed the image 3 times and I did not see it. Thanks so much for pointing it out to me.

Hi Quang,
It's amazing to capture a still life photo using light painting by a LED stick and an iphone. The statue is very sharp with the nice lighting. The added color using Distressed FX is also well done that adds more interest to the subject.
I'd prefer to see a separation between the statue and the background. I'd suggest to lighten the background a tad.
My question is: Do you need to set up long exposure in your phone when you shoot it? |

I converted the painterly effect image above into B&W using BeCasso. What do you think? |

Thanks, Steven, for your comments. For the painterly effect of Becasso, I purposely applied to the entire image, including the sky and tree. In addition, the app does not allow me to create a mask as in Photoshop. I appreciate your suggestion! |

Hi Pat,
It's a fun image! I like circles of big metal wheels used as fences around the house in the background and the metal screw rings on the body of the cow.
I think that the original image is quite sharp and beautiful, you only need to enhance the color a bit. I'd prefer to remove the white object on the bottom left corner that could be distracting. For the vignette you applied, I'd prefer to brighten the transition on the top since it darkens the clouds and creates a big contrast to the bright scene below. |

Hi Jack,
It's unusual to see snow in CA while we have not seen any snow this year in the Washington DC areas. Hope that the vines go dormant for the winter and should not be affected by the cold temperature.
You did a great job to capture the rare snow-covered vineyards! I also like your shot at the low angle that shows the vineyards on the hills covered of snow as well.
If you shoot with Raw file, I'd prefer to adjust the white balance in post processing a bit since the details of the snow are not clearly seen, and at the same time to reduce the bluey tone of the scene. |

Hi Gene,
You have keen eyes to recognize the different shapes, colors in this shot, and especially you've got a good angle to capture all the highlights/shadows that blend nicely together. The ceiling light on the lower left corner is turned on helps more in that dark area.
I'd prefer to sharpen and enhance the colors a bit more in post processing. It's interesting shot! |

Hi Steven,
I can recognize that this image is from the Epcot at Walt Disney World in FL because I also captured it in the past. The geometric shapes and the tonal contrast work well for the B&W conversion.
I am not sure whether your shot is in the daytime or evening because I experienced an amazing view when the internal lights are turned on at sunset. Nice shot! |
