Hi Joan,
It's quite a fun trip for photography, and you have also got a nice shot of dog sutfing at the world championship! The image is sharp, and the coming waves at the background add more to the story.
I'd prefer to see the waves lifting up the surfboard a bit or to have the trail of the ocean waves behind the surfboard to create more excitement to the surfing action. The dog's eyes and its way of grabbing tightly the surfboard give me the impression that it is scared of this adventure. |

Hi Mary Ann,
It's a great shot of the hummingbird! The bird is very sharp with a catchlight in its eye, and the contour light around its left open wing highlights more the details and the shape of the wing.
I'd prefer to remove only the branch with bright color on the right and leave intact the blurred branch with flower bud in the background (since it did not compete with the main subject). To me, the coodination between the bird's wings and legs indicates that it prepares to land on the tree branch. Completely removing the branch in the background could give the impression that the bird is floating in mid-air.

Hi Ruth,
You have captured a great scene! The composition is beautiful, and the different colors of the cliff, the fall color of the valley, and the blue cloudy sky are inviting. I especially like the white power station on the cliff that indicates the presence of human being.
The lighting condition seems a bit challenging with the left part is dark and the right one is bright but you have done an excellent job in post processing to correct all those flaws. I don't have any suggestion for improvement. |

Thanks, Mary Ann, for your comments and your suggestion to take down the highlight on the right.

Thanks, Ruth for your comments! The mobile phone technology is amazing! The pano option allows us to take vertical, horizontal, or even 360-degree panorama in one shot. |

Hi Ruth,
Great shot to capture the kangarou in motion! The background with trees is nice and clean. The female kangaroo carrying her baby in a pocket on her stomach seems like the spectators sitting on the sideline to watch the race. I wish that the flyer and the joey were more visible because they could add more to the story and the scene. |

Hi Michael,
It's a very interesting shot! When I look at each element, I found the imperfection, but when I look at the whole picture, I appreciate the beauty that is incomplete, impermanent, and imperfect in it. It's like a form of Japanese art called Wabi-Sabi, the art of finding the beauty in imperfections. It's an unpredictable image that gives a strong impact to the viewers. I really love it!

Hi LuAnn,
It's a gorgeous still life macro photography! The sharpness, the details, and the color are all well done. The black backgound also helps to make the milkweed stand out.
I especially like one single seed on the right hand side that is nearly detached from other seeds. It contains fluppy hairs that are ready to float away in wind dispersal.

Hi Pat,
The angle you captured this scene is beautiful. The clean curve of the road leads my eyes to the geometry shape of the industial scene. Your post processing has made this image an interesting one.
When you mentioned about Van Gogh's Starry Night, I also wish to see some twirls of clouds in the blue sky. Well done and thanks for sharing your technique! |

Hi Jack,
It's an interesting shot! You were able to capture 2 houses next to each other but having different colors, window designs, and structures of stairs.
To me, the original image has a stronger impact to the viewers with the man climbing the stairs to go into the house. His shadow on the wall is also interesting. It shows the connection to those houses while the moped is only the passersby. |

Hi Gene,
Wow! It's hard to believe that this image was captured by your mobile phone. The formation of the ice on the rose makes it like a diamond flower brooch.
Your post processing to eliminate the distracting elements in the background works well. Nice capture! |

Hi Quang,
The lines and shapes of this image are interesting! I feel a bit divided when there are 2 competing subjects in it. Although I like the wooden columns opened in a fan-shape on the top, my eyes were drawn to the pendant lights at the bottom left corner. The vents on both sides of the middle columns are a bit distracting.
I'd prefer to crop tighter to focus on the fan-shape columns. |
