Hi Joan,
I love the way you captured this image! The subject seems to be a simple one, but the angle you shot has rendered it an art work. The image also contains highlights and shadows that are nicely done.
Don't be discouraged by the judge since it's only one person's opinion. His/her honest feedback and a suggestion for improvement might matter more, if any.

Thanks, Ruth, for your comments! I guess that the light spot was eliminated by the painterly effect. |

Thanks, Joan, for your comments! To answer to your question, I added a painterly look to my image because I want to make it like an impressionist painting. I also think the best subject for it is the autumn scene. |

Thanks, Ruth, for your comments. I agree with you that the effect at center is a bit too strong. If I had a chance to re-work on this image, I'd definitely reduce it at the center pathway. |

Hi LuAnn,
The blue and yellow colors blend well together and create a pleasing scene. It looks like a field of flowers in the foreground with a wooden fence that separates itself from the hills of pine trees in the distance.
It also reminds me of the Van Gogh exhibit "The Immersive Experience" that I attended in DC not long ago. The image is sharp and the composition works well. Very nice abstract image! |

Hi Mary Ann,
Wow! You did a nice job in post processing to bring back all the elements of a night shot. The moon, the sunset, the water, and especially the 2 tall pine trees at the right corner that anchor the view.
I'd prefer to remove the cloud on the top right corner since it was isolated and not connected to other clouds at lower levels. I don't think that flipping the image is necessary. You have achieved quite a lot of experiences in night photography now! |

Hi Ruth,
Your image of Arches National Park is beautiful! The late afternoon sun brought out the beautiful colors of the rock formations. The composition works well. I especially like the angle you shot that has an open space to see more at the further distance.
Your post processing has nicely brought out the shadows of the rocks on the left. I'd prefer to lighten the sky a bit since the dark sky seems to contrast with the golden light on the rocks. Nice shot! |

Hi Ruth,
The conversion to high key photography is quite a challenging work, especially when your original image seems like a low key photography. In this image, you were able to transform the background into a white background while properly lighten your subject. The bird's eye is sharp and wings details are well seen.
In my persnal opinion, I feel that the way the bird is flying is too fierce (with its maximized stretching wings and eye focus on prey at distance) for the high key photography, which is commonly used in portraiture or on delicate, positive feel subjects. You have done a nice work on high key photography!

Hi Michael,
Your post processing brought out the details, the colors and the vintage look of the image. The sky replacement is also a good choce to eliminate the trees in the background. I'd prefer to darken the clouds on the top right a bit since they draw my eyes there. |

Thanks Gene for your suggestion! If I had a chance to re-work on this image, I'd reduce the texture on the mask to bring back more of the details. |

Hi Pat,
Your post processing is well done! Your image is sharp, its colors are beautiful, and all the bright spots at the low right corner have been eliminated. I agree with others' suggestion that it can be used as a nice holiday card. |

Hi Jack,
It's a nice view from your deck! The sunrise, and the fog over the lake give the viewers a peaceful and mystic feeling.
To me, I'd prefer to eliminate the tall tree branches on the left since they are a bit distracting, and to have a bit of separation between the top of the pine trees and the hills on the opposite hills. |

Hi Ruth,
Nice shot of Christmas light drive! The composition is great, and the colors are beautiful. I'd prefer to see it a bit sharper but the flag, stars, snowflakes and the letters are good to see what the scene is. It sounds to be a fun drive!
One suggestion is to remove the 4 red safety poles on the floor. |

Hi Gene,
Your image of Mt. Etna is interesting! The trees look like the aspen trees in Colorado, but the ground level in V-shape and the black lava and the new bush in the right corner draw the viewers' attention. The grass path in lighter color from the left corner leads the eyes to further distance. Your post processing brought out colors and vibrance to the scene.
I agree with Jack that cropping a bit more on the top could make the viewers focus more on the scene below. |

Hi Steve,
It's a beautiful night shot with your phone! The design of the Japanese garden is elegant, and the light colors, the water reflection all work well together. The angle you shot gives the viewers a nice composition of the scene. |
