Thanks LuAnn for your comments and your suggestion. I did use the diffuser for flowers occasionally but I never think of using it for butterlies, especially for outdoor. When I saw a butterfly, my quick reaction is to dial to a very fast shutter speed and a medium aperture. The rest is the luck!
I might try to use a diffuser when I go to a butterfly pavilion next time. Thanks for your recommendation! |

Hi Michael,
You can create a brush from your flower photo in just 60 seconds. The link of one quick tutorial "How to Make a Flower Custom Brush in Photoshop (from Envato Tuts+) is: https://youtu.be/Ds77eE9UdM0.
Once you make your flowers into brushes, you can have endless creativity, such as using it for a customized card, a portrait image, or even sell them as flower brushes ðŸ˜. I will definitely show you my work using flower brushes in a near future. I am looking forward to seeing your creativity too. |

Thanks Mary Ann , LuAnn, and Ruth for your comments. I agree that the butterfly's head is a bit soft. |

Thanks Bev for visiting our group and for your comments. Yes, this is my lucky shot because this large swallowtail butterfly is rarely seen in this garden, especially it landed into a red lily (with a quite clean background). |

Hi Mary Ann,
You have captured a beautiful view of San Francisco night! I like this pano shot that shows the entire span of the Golden Gate bridge and the cities. I have visited San Francisco several times in the past but I did not take any pictures at night. Your image gives me a desire to come back for a night shot.
For the inclusion of the moon in the night shot, I normally had to make the composite to combine the scene and the moon. With a long exposure of the city shot, the moon will be blurred because it has a motion (although we don't feel it!)
I like your edited version with sharper scene, but I agree with Ruth that the moon has a thin line around it that does not look natural. I'd prefer to see the moon a bit smaller but not too low as in your edited version. |

Hi Ruth,
The scene of the Mayflower Gulch is beautiful. The lighting, the composition, and especially the frame of the window makes the image interesting. The adjustment to straighten the frame works very well and the whole scene looks realistic.
I'd prefer to see a bit more of the 3 clouds on the top left corner since they are cropped off by the frame. It's only a nit-pick for you to consider. It's a nicely composed image and I really like it!

Hi Christine,
Welcome to our group! You've got a shot of Venice from a different perspective, and you've captured a number of iconic elements of Venice in one photo: the bell tower of St Mark's Basilica, the canal, bridge, and gondolas. It will be a good memorable travel photo of Venice.
At first, the frame on both sides of your image makes me think of the curtain drapes of your hotel window. 😠The details of the stone window opening in dark color are a bit distracting. I'd prefer to see this image captured with the camera flash ON to reveal more of the stone window. Since the angle of this image is great, I also wish to see this shot with the framing using two buildings on both sides only (without the stone window opening). |

Hi Michael,
I really like the way you combine multiple photos into one work of art. I can see that you have spent a lot of time organizing all the flowers of different colors and shapes in one template. It's a well thought-out plan. I enjoy looking at it!
Have you ever thought of making each flower into a brush? I had tried to do so, but I did not have a lot of varieties of flowers as you had. Your image inspires me to continue to work on that.
Don't be discouraged by the judge or others' comments. You don't always have to agree with the criticism. What drives the real interest of your vision, aspiration, and desire matters more. |

Hi LuAnn,
Thanks for sharing your creative art work. The original image with the peeling bark and the leaves is also beautiful. You have transformed it into a different design and make it more interesting.
The watercolor preset does help to camouflage the busy woodland area, but I feel that the big white border contrasts sharply with the dark colors of the main scene. I'd prefer to darken the color of the border to draw the viewers' eyes to the main subject. Overall, it's a nice and creative image! |

Hi Ruth,
With the mobile phone, I can aim at the sun and capture it quickly. It's not like viewing the sun directly through the viewfinder of a DSLR camera which can be harmful to the eyes. |

Thanks Jack, Ruth, Quang, and Gene for your comments.
Visiting the Oculus is an unforgettable experience to me. The stark white Oculus building, sits directly across from the 9/11 Memorial, gives the visitors the emotion that there is hope, even in the face of devastation. |

Hi Pat,
You've got a great shot of St. Louis cityscapes. I really like the angle that you captured this shot with 2 symmetric roads and the old courthouse with its blue dome in the middle that leads my eyes going upwards to the high-rise buildings in further distance. Your post processing makes the image tack sharp, and the vivid warm gives it a blue tiny look.
My only suggestion is to crop tigher on the left and leave a bit space at the top. Very nice image! |

Hi Ruth,
It's a beautiful family shot! The image is sharp, and the composition works well. Dorrie seems to smile for the camera, too. |

Hi Gene,
This Gehry's Louis Vuitton building in Paris is still in my wish list to visit. It is captivating because it is a combination of architecture and modern art. It has also stimulated a lot of conversations and critics. The overall design of the architecture looks like an enormous sailboat with glass panels and complex metal shapes.
For this image, I think that the daylight and the close up do not help you much to show your intention. The glass has shown some parts with the reflection of the top of the building and has also revealed some internal displays, such as hanging fish, which make the scene quite busy.
I'd suggest to combine the shots of external design of the architecture and the internal display using overlay in post processing, which is similar to multiple exposure in SLR camera. |

Hi Jack,
The morning light has given this image a beautiful color and it makes the scene like an impressionist painting. The corner you captured the scene also works well. It has different layers of trees, bushes, and water (?) that created a dimensional image.
The S-curve leading line gives more excitement to the viewers as constrasted to straight lines. I wish that it lead my eyes to the valley below rather than to the hidden right corner. The fog is not quite visible to me, but it makes the overall color blended nicely.
I'd prefer to capture the scene at a bit lower angle to have a separation between the branch of the tree on the right and the pine tree near the valley. Overall, it's a beautiful image! |

Hi Quang,
The vertical shot of this scene is a nice choice. The composition is great with the major part of the image to emphasize on the beautiful sky and less on the sandy path.
The formation of the cloud makes me think of a huge white crane descending the beach. The leading line of the sand conducts my eyes to the further distance where the clouds are at a lower point. It gives me a sense that the clouds are in our reach. Nice shot! |

Hi Bob,
The dusk time gives the scene a beautiful color. The S-curve in composition creates a leading line and keeps the viewers engage to the image for a longer period of time. The bush where the fisherman stands and the condos in the further distance give me a sense of an awesome fishing spot for leisure not far from home.
I am impressed that you selected the image from the frame in live photo mode, and it's very sharp. The texture from the app Distressed Fx has transformed the scene into an artwork. The addition of two birds in post processing is a nice choice. It indicates that they are trying to catch fish in that area too. It's a well designed image, and I don't have any suggestion for improvement. |
