Thanks LuAnn for your comments, and to find the name of the insect. I think that it's the hummingbird clearwing moth. |

Hi LuAnn,
The Impression texture on the apples has made their colors more beautiful. It's nicely done and looks very natural. I also like the shadow produced by the apple on the left side on the one on the right.
I'd prefer to see the contour of the apple on the right a bit clearer to make it separated from the background. |

Thanks Ruth, Mary Ann and Michael for your comments. This insect has a large wing, and is quite aggressive. It's in a dark corner of the garden. I took several quick shots and at the same time tried to avoid being stunk. I admit that there are camera skake in this hand-held photo.
Ruth, I had my Canon 7D II a few years ago when it was just released. I really like it because it's fast and is not heavy. |

Hi Michael,
Great shot! I like the clean background, the crossing areas of the ridge, and the sole penguin (out of 10,000 penguins) in Tai Chi pose. The snow over the mountains and the glacier in the background are quite a challenge for getting a sharper image. I am glad that you did not miss this shot, and I do hope that you can fix the overexposed areas in post processing. |

Hi Mary Ann,
The different colors of the grass and a lot of water droplets on it make it more beautiful. I agree with Ruth and Michael that the diagonal blade in the foreground is a bit distraction. I'd prefer to crop tighter to focus on the droplets. |

Lisa,
Your image is intriguing! I tried to figure out the story of it and a lot of questions has arised. The man sitting at the water fountain wears Russian Olympic uniform (with the "Russian Olympic Team" on his right shoulder and "Russia" in the front of his jacket). Is he an Olympic athlete at Sochi? The building with the name "Noyta Poccmm" behind him reminds me of Russian hand blown glass items. Are the man and the store behind related? I'd prefer to see the man working on something to make the story of the image stronger. |

Beautiful shot! Your post processing has made the deer stand out from the background.
I agree with LuAnn that the deer's tail is too close to the edge of the frame. I'd suggest to crop as a portrait (square crop) to benefit that the deer's face is quite sharp and has antlers, if you enter it in competition. |

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Gene, Your suggestion to flip the image horizontally works well for this one. (Your suggestion to flip the museum in July last year won't work because the museum has a big waterfalls on the right. The flip will totally change the architecture of the museum).
I also see a bit of differences thru' this visual language. In my version, it shows that I captured it by standing at the left corner, while your version shows that I must capture it from the right corner. I appreciate your suggestion.

Hi Pat,
I am glad to hear that you use Procreate app. I attended several worshops of Procreate, provided by Design Cuts but I have not tried it yet.
For this image, the diagonal background is dynamic and its color matches with the flowers. I agree with Gene that the mask around the flowers still show some original colors around the petals. Overall, it's a nice result, and I am looking to seeing more of your work using Procreate.
(I sent the comments to your image a few days ago. For some reasons, it disappeared, and I need to resend it now.) |

Ruth,
You did a nice job in shooting the Night mode using your mobile phone!
Apple website says that the night mode automatically turns on when the camera detects a low-light environment. When taking images at low light recently, I totally forgot that it has that function. Now reading your description, I regret that I did not check the Night mode to have more controls.
Your post processing is also excellent by removing all the wires and frames, and it gives you a wonderful image for the holiday season.
My question is: Did you shoot this scene through your car window or by getting out of your car ?

Happy New Year, Gene!
The architecture of the building is interesting! I am impressed that you were able to capture a sharp image at night time using mobile phone. The suspension bridge on the left, the white tower next to it, the structure of the building in the middle, and the water reflection all work well together. The two people and their dog adds a sense of the scale to the vast scene.
I'd prefer to crop tighter to eliminate the bright light tower that could be a bit distracting. I'd appreciate if you could provide more info on the location of your image. |

Happy New Year to you, Belinda!
Thanks for sharing the behind-the-scene story of this image, and I am glad that you had a good time and also got great images!
The angle of your shot and your post processing are well done that accentuate the details and colors of the rust. The removal of the cigarette is the right choice.
I'd prefer to crop a tiny bit more from the top and the left side since the edges of the big wheel and small wheel are touching the frame. You could also use the Snapseed frame with rusty edges to match with the entire scene and to cover those areas. Nice image! |

Hi Jack,
It's a fun image to have included your boots in there. It gives a story (dune hiking is challenging) to the image. The leading lines, curves, hills, valleys all work together to create a beautiful scene. I especially like the diagonal foot prints that go up the sand dunes from the left side to the right. The image is quite sharp with visible details of the sand. The conversion to B&W is also the right choice.
I agree with Belinda that you can get 2 images in this shot (with or without your boots), and both have different perspectives. Well done! |

Hi Bob,
Welcome to this group 86!
Your image is beautiful! The near sunset time, and the composition have made this a peaceful scene. Your crop works very well to eliminate a flock of birds flying on the top that could be distracting. I especially like a single bird and its reflection on the bottom left of the image, that was captured at the right place amd right time. Well done! |
