Thanks, LuAnn for your comments.
I took the image by facing the back of my phone camera to the huge container of gourds from top down. At first, I could not figure out what you mean by your "upside down" feeling. By looking at your edited version, I found that the yellow star gourd (right above the green&yellow one) near the bottom right corner needs to face upwards to be considered as the right side. Thanks for your keen eyes! I will remember it when I take similar pictures next time. |

LuAnn, The sky replacement makes the church more beautiful! It's nice to have a chance to apply the technique you have learned in PS class and makes something different. I am surprised that the way you captured the image with the wide angle lens does not create the perspective issue.
I agree with Michael that the replaced sky needs some adjustments so that it can be blended well with the scene.
The trees on both sides you used to frame the church are a nice choice to narrow the view to the main subject. Although you have said that you had no space for the shot, I wish to see more of the trees as a frame, or I'd prefer to have a shot of the church without the trees. |

Randolph,
You got the nice orange orchid! I am an orchid enthusiast, and I always go to the orchid exhibition to find the special ones for photography. The color and the petals of the flowers are beautiful, and you are able to capture with a bokeh background to make them more stand out.
I'd prefer to enhance the shadows/highlights and to sharpen the orchid lips a bit more. I agree with Michael to clone out the hanger on the top left that could be distracting. I'd also suggest to create a vignette to focus on the flowers, and voilà, you might get a permanent picture of your orchids on the wall.

Michael,
You got a nice creative image! The accidental image is a happy one for you to create this special background. All the combination of the sun, Japanese fire glass and the background tells the story of global warming well.
Because the sun is so low, I'd prefer to crop tighter the top part a bit more.

Ruth, What's a beautiful scene of the pink flamingoes walking straight in a line and with their reflection in the water! The color of the sky is also nice. I like that each position of the birds' legs differ from each other.
In your personal opinion, I feel that the flamingoes are not quite sharp and the sand bar above them are a bit distracting. The second edited version of Michael has made the birds sharper, the composition stronger, and has removed the distraction of the sand bar. |

Mary Ann, It's amazing that you were able to capture a beautiful image of a robin from your window. The bird is very sharp with all the details of its feather clearly seen and it stands out from the background. You are so lucky that the branch also has a flower next to it. I also like your story about this robin, and your use of aluminum foil strips to prevent him from banging to your window. I'd prefer to crop as Tom did since the branches on both sides could be distracting. It's a very beautiful image! |

Lisa, I love your shot that combined opposite escalators with different diagonal lines and angles. The reflection of the stainless steel makes me feel that they are very clean, and the bright orange color at the end is also beautiful. The passenger with the yellow suitcase on the right also complements the scene. People seems to be bottleneck at the end of the escalator. Fewer people there would be more perfect, but I know that it's hard to achieve in this case.
The interesting point that the person with the yellow suitcase is going up but his/her body seems like he/she is going down the escalator. Your image challenges the viewers in many ways. It's a great image! |

Michael, Thanks for showing me another version in Color FX. i love both! Your version darkens the borders and make the entire scene more orangy while in my version, the yellow gourds can be clearly distinguished from the orange ones. It's fun to see different versions of it! |

Stephen,
Thanks for visiting our group and for your comments.
Correcting the perspective of this scene is harder than I expected because the Washington monument is an obelisk shape structure (not a straight line such as a normal building) and the ground with flags is not easy to decide whether it should be straighten. I am glad that everyone feels OK with my perspective correction. In PS, I used the ruler to mark a straight line from top to bottom of the monument, then rotate the image accordingly before cropping.
I'd appreciate if anyone could suggest me a best way to correct the perspective in this situation. |

Nice creative image! You were able to put one horse rider in the center of the scene, and the others around the rings. The Planet effect of SuperImpose X seems to be fun to use, and you made the great image selection for applying it. I never use the SuperImpose X but I think that the effect is similar to Polar Coordinates filter in Photoshop. I'd suggest you to cut a vertical strip of the scene on the right and paste it to the left side to make it consistent before applying the Planet effect. It will eliminate the gap like it is in the top left corner.
Overall, the scene looks like the Colosseum of Rome, Italy. I like it! |

Ruth,
What's an interesting image for your Living Yard Art! At first, i thought they are stone animal statues in your yard. I have never seen an armadillo before. Their appearances look like they are wearing medieval protective body armors to deflect physical attacks. Their skins also have iron-like rings that are interwoven. You were able to capture them eating in pair and with a clean background. Nice shot!

Gene, Your image and Belinda's fit the Halloween theme this month very well. It's a nice catch of the big web and with the spider right in the center! What I like the most is the angle you capture it with the center of the web put in the dark area to make it stand out more.
There are some bright areas on top of screen that could be a bit distracting, but the huge web hanging around 4 corners drive the viewers' eyes back into the spider. It's quite an impactful image! |

The old Masonic building with its design and most of the windows have lights off, looks eerie itself. You have created a nice haunted building by adding smoke-like to the sky and the light beams through the second window at the bottom. I could not figure out the skeleton's face of the Original 2 in this final image.
Your image is great! It meets your objective of the haunted house, and it comes at the right time for Halloween! I don't have any suggestion for improvement. |

Jack/Belinda,
Thanks to both of you for your comments. Although this Covid-19 memorial exhibition is temporarily displayed at the National Mall from September 16 to October 3, 2021, I am very impressed because it is very well organized. The vinyl flags are waterproof and become shiny under the sun (Belinda saw them as spiked, metal cones). The rows of over 600,000 white vinyl flags moving with the winds like flocks of birds taking off from the ground. It's a very beautiful and emotional scene to honor lives lost to Covid-19! |

Jack,
This image is a very interesting street photography. The scene is an unusual scene! The guitars are displayed for sale on the street and the seller is sitting on the shopping cart that was turned vertically and used as his seat. I think that there are many potential guitar buyers in that area that he wants to compete with Walmart.
I'd prefer to crop tighter the top part of the image. |
