Thanks Michael and LuAnn for your comments and your edits. My preference is to keep a warm sunrise while lighten up the skin tone of the treasure hunter a bit. I found that for some reasons, the image looked fine on my computer when I enhanced the original file using Photoshop, but when I resized it to save in .jpg file, it became over sharpened. I will revisit my file and reduce the sharpness to see how it works. |

Mary Ann, It's fun to see several versions of your image from different points of view. What I like about your image is that the simple subject (tomatoes) has displayed many colors, shapes, and layers. The dark purple tomatoes are in a curvy line that draw my eyes there. I'd prefer to see the foreground area more in focus. |

LuAnn, Thanks for your explanation on your choice of the spoon direction and on the dark shooting. I agree that you are the maker, you can choose what works best for your art work.
I found the suggestion for darker shooting an interesting one because I always prefer to spend minimum time in post processing for my images. |

Ruth, The vertical shot is the right choice to capture the beauty of this scene. I love the multiple layers of this image that include the peak of the mountains, pine trees, rocks, and waterfalls. Those elements guide my eyes go from the nearby foreground to the top in the distance.
I agree with you that it's hard to get a lot of elements into one picture in this case. You could consider next time to capture different parts of the scene then stitched vertically into one image in post processing.
I'd prefer to see more space on the top of the mountain and to lighten the dark area on the left that is right above the waterfalls. |

Lisa, The angle you shot has brought out the beauty of the bridge and the city. You have chosen the right time to capture the scene, and it adds the golden color to the bridge and the water reflection. It's beautiful image of Pittsburgh, and it represents well the industrial look!
I wish that you also used a narrow aperture (F/16 or more) to capture this scene so that the street lights on the bridge could become starbursts. |

Randolph, The composition works well with the diagonal line that those 2 sunbathers laying on the beach to get a suntan. I like the way you included some coarse and rough sand on the top of the image that indicated the presence of some people there before.
Those 2 ladies have beautiful bodies, and I believe that they know how to protect themselves from skin cancer. They just need some vitamin "sea" when they are at the beach.

Michael, The old house in the middle of the wheat fields is so beautiful! The house is tack sharp and the details of the wheat fields are well seen. I really like it!
Your choice to replace the sky is also the right decision to make the scene more appealing. In my personal opinion, I think that the replaced sky is a little darker than the bright scene below. I'd prefer to lighten the sky a bit more.
You also mentioned that you used Gigapixel to increase the resolution of the image and I don't know why you need it (if you shot it in RAW file and with your DSLR camera)?

LuAnn, It's such a beautiful image! Your scene set-up, your gray tile background, and your post processing work nicely together. The color transition blends well between the background, the spoon, and the blue berries. All of It make simple elements a nice art work.
Have you considered to rotate the image to make the spoon in a diagonal line, instead of a vertical one?
I also wonder why the lighting of your original image is too dark when you have full control of your still life setting?

Mary Ann, Thanks for your comments! I did have some other shots when this treasure hunter went to the distance. I'd prefer to use this image to tell the story of his work, and I think that the story won't tell well if the vast ocean is included (because he will be very small in the expanse of the seascape). |

Mike, This is a nice abstract collection! Your creativity is great! I especially like the image at (3,1) axis that looks like a woman's smiling face. |

It seems a beautiful day with blue sky and interesting clouds. The foreground with some top parts of the trees are not quite a strong subject to hold the viewer's eyes there.
I'd prefer to have a silhouette of a lacy tree or something with interesting shape in the foreground. |

Gene, The shadows have created a very interesting image! You have also captured it at a right time when the shadows look like mirrored images of the table and chairs. The scene is well designed (or well seen) that turns into an abstract one.
I'd prefer to clone out the plant on the top right that could be a bit distracting.
My question is: Why are the shadows of most the elements gone Southward direction but the small circle with 4 ribbons underneath the table goes Northward?

Thanks, Jack! It's so nice to be able to capture the whole rainbow for the vast area in a single shot! |

Wow! The exhibit of this car is beyond belief! I am very impressed of their recovering work to bring it back for display. The angle you captured it tells the story well.
I'd prefer to lighten the spectators a bit more. |

Jack, It's a beautiful and rare shot with a complete rainbow over the vast area of Bisti Badlands' rock formations! I am glad that your iphone becomes handy in this situation. The cloudy sky also adds drama to the scene.
My question is: Did you capture the complete rainbow using pano shot?

Nice shot, Belinda! Your close-up shot with all details and the intertwined black & green & yellow colors of the caterpillar's body created a strong impact to the viewers. The focus on its face and legs makes it look like a monster now, although it will later become a beautiful swallowtail butterfly. Your vignette also works well to help blur the background.
I'd prefer to crop tighter to eliminate the brown spot on the left and the top part of the image. |
