3 Aug 21 Reply Lisa, Your new crop with red color on the top of the frame works better, and it makes the lady's black outfit stand out more. I like it!
I wish you a great success on your upcoming group exhibit!

3 Aug 21 Reply This edited version is much better. I love it! Aug 23rd
3 Aug 21 Comment You were able to capture the 2 bees working in the same flower. I especially like the action of the bee in flight with its 2 antennas pointing towards the center of the flower.
In your edited version, you did a good job by eliminating the distraction underneath the flower and made the stem more visible. The pink color of the flower is beautiful and the composition works well. I'd prefer to reduce the white spots on most of the flower petals to make the viewers' eyes focus more on the bees.

Is it possible to try with high key post processing to bring down the highlights as your suggestion to me last month?

3 Aug 21 Comment Lisa, It's so nice for you to have a chance to attend Tokyo Olympics event! You were able to capture a candid photo of the young lady in the new Japanese fashion trend (not in kimono, as we normally expect to see) Her mini boots with a golden chain look so sexy and draw my eyes there. Her deeply focus attention on her phone also marks the smart phone addiction (also called "nomophobia", which is the abbreviation of "no-mobile-phone-phobia") of our Internet age.
I'd prefer to see the young lady stands 2 steps farther than the poster so that the wrestler Dwayne Johnson's face on the poster of Under Armor "Project Rock" collection can be more visible, but I know that it's not possible for a street photography.
Your original image shows the sign "Japan Tax Free Shop", and I wonder whether she is a foreign traveler seen at the Japanese duty-free airport?

3 Aug 21 Reply Michael, Your edited version has made the moth stand out from the gravel. I'd prefer to lighten the wet area a bit since it created a dark spot on the top left of the image. Aug 9th
3 Aug 21 Comment Mary Ann, You were able to capture a beautiful moth on the gravel. I especially like its fancy wings that were wide open and well displayed.
Your edited version has eliminated the distracting elements and was flipped horizontally, as suggested by LuAnn, but it seems to me that the moth does not stand out from the background because the overall image becomes darker. I'd prefer to lighten the background a bit more to give more boost to the moth.

3 Aug 21 Comment Very creative, LuAnn! Thanks for sharing your detailed technique on how you captured the soap bubbles. Both versions are abstract images, and they leave to the viewers' imagination.
For my personal taste, I like the version Original 2 more because all the strong colors seem to blend together nicely in different layers and the liquid flow smoothly in a curve shape from left to right. I feel it like a beautiful scene of the mountains and rivers, viewed from the window of a high altitude flight.

3 Aug 21 Comment Randolph,
The parrot is sharp with all the details of his feathers can be seen. The way the bird bends his head to look at your camera is nicely captured. I also like a piece of white feather sticks out from his head. Although the parrot is on the handler's arm, you were able to include the red and blue feather to make its feathers more beautiful!
Since the bird is in captive and it's not qualified for nature photography submission, I'd recommend to replace the car in the background (that is distracting) with the light green color on the top left to make the picture more perfect.

3 Aug 21 Comment Michael, both versions of your images are beautiful! The colors of the blue petals and the yellow centers of the asters stand out nicely from the background. The flowers you selected also look natural, with the top 2 flowers are not totally in bloom and the wild grass fill nicely at the base and one at the top right. For my personal taste, I like the edited version better because of the overall pastel look.
I'd prefer to eliminate the yellow flower behind the leaf on the left, and adjust the saturation of the top 3 flowers to make the color more consistent throughout the image.

86 Aug 21 Reply Hi Ruth! Thanks for your comments. After I took the image, I did show it to this lady. She loved it! I also took some similar pictures for her using her phone. It works well for both of us. 😆Aug 19th

Gene, When I took this image, I am thinking about the painter could be another Van Gogh, who is famous for his sunflowers painting. I am amazed when you see it as Renoir, who is specialized in impressionism. Thanks for your nice interpretation of my image!

86 Aug 21 Comment Excellent image! The decision to convert to B&W is also the right choice. The subject is interesting, the angle you captured the image, the composition, and your iphone setting mode all contributed to a wonderful image!
I don't have any suggestion for improvement. This could be an award winning image!

86 Aug 21 Comment I always want to capture the hay bales and never see the nice scene displayed like this one in Palouse. You have all elements for a wonderful image: beautiful cloudy sky, the hills, some houses, the hay bales, and some clouds peaking out at the horizon in the distance. The panorama view works very well in this scene. Beautiful scene!
I'd prefer to lighten the front of the bales a bit more but I think it's hard to do so in this lighting condition.

86 Aug 21 Comment Beautiful image! The thistle is in full bloom and the bee is in the perfect position. The light purple color of the flower is pleasing, and the composition works well. All the details of the thistle are nicely lighted. I especially like the wings of the bee that are half open.
One nick pick suggestion is to blur more or to eliminate the three stems from the top middle and top right areas.

86 Aug 21 Comment Gene, Is it the dandelion wild flower? This flower is quite hard to capture in full bloom because a light wind can break it easily.
You made a right choice to mirror half of the flower to make it more beautiful! Your edited version is very sharp, and you have eliminated most of the distracting elements. The final image looks like the burst of the fireworks!
Another suggestion is to join the 2 halves by using the double exposure layers to overlap the joint area.

86 Aug 21 Comment Both images are beautiful, and they can be used for different objectives. I wonder how you selected the effect of the apps at the beginning to envision the result you desired?
Your original cactus (hen) is sharp, has 2 colors green and purple nicely blended, presented in a nice composition. Your creative version did add more surreal effect with texture, and gives me the impression that the cactus were discovered underneath of the icy path.
Excellent creative image! I don't have any suggestion for improvement. Thanks for sharing your technique and for showing both before-and-after images.
