I agree with the cropping suggested by Sol. The intensity of the color of the water seems excessive but it might be just me and the water might be that color. Good image. |

David, nice lines in this scenic. The clouds might be intensified. Great place to be. |

Wow! Impact is great. I would lighten up the lower coils of the snake, darken the background (perhaps blurring it more) and get rid of the twigs on the left and right. If something does not add to the photo, it probably detracts. |

Joey, this is well done. I agree with Sol's comments. The slight blurring of the background is good though. A slight increase in vibrancy could make the colors stand out a bit. |

Hi Sol,
You know, I felt your feeling that the water was slanted down to the right was correct. Do the trees slanting to the right create this appearance. Do you think it could be corrected by using the warp tool in PS? |

Agree about the comments about sharpness. Unless as a test of your image stabilization, it makes no sense to take this image at 1/13th with an iso of 1600. The subject is fine, the composition is great. Colors are good. |

Hi Pat, Yes, my Canon 100mm is the newer one. I also have one of the old ones and I can hardly tell the difference in optics. I've never had trouble with the old one as long as I use a high enough iso and fast enough shutter. Of course, to do that, I have to use a flash to get enough light. Nearly all of my insect photos are hand held other than dead insects with Helicon focus.

This is very well done technically. The subject has a lot of impact and is sharp with fine lines showing up in the peddles. The contrasting colors are perfect and there is a good appearance of depth. I might lighten up the base of the stamens a bit. Well done. |

I like the original better. It is a definable subject with great colors and shows depth that the other does not. |

Impact is great and sharp focus. Despite the fact that the
spider was upside down, I'd probably rotate it 180 to make it
a more obvious subject. I agree with Richard. I'd like to see more of the spider so that the body was more evident. |

Richard, nice cropping of the original. Using color dodging
and burning in PS could lighten and increase the contrast in the yellow/red and give more depth to the individual peddles of the flower. The water drops make the image impact full. |
