1 Jan 22 Reply I do replace a sky occasionally but I have a file for my own cloud or sky images. If I want a particular type, I can just go to my folder and pick one out. Jan 24th
1 Jan 22 Comment This is a great capture of the bird and the meal. The composition is great. I don't see a problem with the background. You might add a little vignette if you think it would help. To me, it does a look a little "muddy". I looked at the histogram of the image and did some adjusting just using Levels. I don't know what the colors should look like and I was coming up with different looks. Here is the histogram with the adjustments I used for the image. Jan 23rd
1 Jan 22 Comment I really like the golden light and the geese against the dark clouds. I saw a large flock of geese the other day and It broke up right over me. It looks like that is what these geese were doing since they weren't in formation any more. If these were in formation, you could tell they were geese even if they were just white spots in the sky. I do agree about getting rid of the light cloud at the top.

1 Jan 22 Comment I think it is a very interesting subject. I was thinking the same thing about increasing the contrast. I tried just changing that and it bled out the sky. I didn't try burning it in. You do need to be careful about using a sky replacement unless it is one that you actually took. It could lead to a disqualification if used in competition. Jan 23rd
1 Jan 22 Comment Good capture of the baby. It's head is even on the visible side of it's mother. It's too bad that you couldn't have gotten this before the mother's head was behind the out of focus vegetation. That draws my eye away from your subject. Jan 23rd
1 Jan 22 Reply It does look better with the tail cut off. :)

1 Jan 22 Comment The subject is well placed in the composition. The diagonal lines of the tree is perfect. I do agree with Dave and would like to see the background more out of focus. Jan 23rd
1 Jan 22 Comment The bare tree with mass of twisted branches is great. A lot of time there is a problem with a cluttered background. You have done well to find this isolated and have handled it well. I do like the weeds included. Could the vignetting be feathered a little more along the right side to make it less obvious? Jan 23rd
1 Jan 22 Reply I used four images because even at f/8.0, I didn't have enough Depth of Field. I actually had a piece of a dog treat under the onion when I took this so the stalks were in the natural growing position. It wasn't sitting level on the counter and it just didn't look right with the stalks coming out at an angle when the onion was on a flat surface. Jan 12th
