Beautiful scene from an interesting vantage point. I think the sky's darkness might be somewhere between the original monochrome and the alternative suggestion. That is very minor. I is really lovely monochrome rendering of the original color scene. Well done. |

Susan, this is a lovely perspective! The slightly blue monochrome tone works well. Given that perspective, I wish there was more that I could see where I could easily distinguish something of the water fall. |

Cropping the lake at little at the bottom makes sense, for me. I find cropping both at the top and bottom compressions it in a very distant panorama which takes away for me the wonderful feel of the image. So, I will just keep as is or crop up a little for my test. |

Jerry, I like your image...its feel, the story, the nature contrast of see and land. I am distracted by the slanted horizon line in the distance. I think that detracts from the overall impact of the image. |

Stuart, I feel and hear this scene. I love the tonality and the composition. I think the smoke from the engine is just right...soft and fluffy. The tracks are fascinating and perhaps could use a tad more contrast, but not much. I am fascinated by the irregularity of the rails on the left. They look like they should be replaced by the railroad maintenance team. Well done. |

Chris, I love the image. The feel it gives me about the weather tells a story that would be missed if the image was cropped or composed differently. It is just like trying to see in the distance and trying to make everything out from frame edge to frame edge. Really like your efforts. I suggest a little more lighting of the trees at the left of the building. |

Don, While I see an alternative view with the bottom cropped some, I find the thought of cropping on the right and left as defeating the story in the scene which is really the interesting bridges going from one side of the lake to the other. Actually, and it can't be seen in the view, the place where the two bridges meet is a small island. Now regarding darkening the leaves on the trees at the right would make it no loner a black & white monochrome of a fall scene. So in that case, perhaps the dialogue should be whether one should even try to do monochrome of a fall tree scene. Hmmm, not sure. |

From my perspective, without getting in the nick picky aspects of how the ropes is tied, I find the image quite appealing and tonally very pleasing. I find a story here, dynamic light and pleasing contrast. |
