Jerry, I like the story and the image, but I like the original image much better than the monochrome version. For me your monochrome tonality is not as sharp for some reason as the color and tonally flat. I am going to offer, for what it is worth, my type of edited alternative view of the image as B&W and Cropped differently. I think the left frame crop could have been just left of the tree that is left of the building and the top frame crop could have been at the top of that same tree. I did some curves adjustment and other tonal adjustment and the crop I am thinking of. |

You have an interesting and certainly well defined view that is sharp throughout the scene. It certainly tells the story of decay and makes one wonder about the many riders that sat on these seats through its active year. This image might look better to me in color. I feel it is tonally a bit flat and that some curve adjustment or increase slightly in contract might enhance the image. |

Stan, this is terrific and it is wonderful that I can do with knowledge of this church. I photographed in it also last year in late April a scene with a lady kneeling in one of the pews with her arms out stretched above her head in prayer.
The symmetry and in all respects except the column with the vase of flower on the right is wonderful. One might argue it through the image off balance, but I think it offers an intriguing perspective that relates to the scene, title and activities going on in the church. I think it is sharp and well exposed and adjusted for monochrome. |

I like the image perspective and its overall tonality is quite nice. It is nice and sharp and has layers of interest. Nonetheless, I feel like the foreground distracts me a bit too much from the bridge. That is perhaps because I don't know if this ice, soapy like water, pollution, sediment that is swirling on the indented area of the water. Also, what adjustments and conversion was done in Affinity. Not knowing about that software, I have no idea how you achieve the conversion and get the tonality you chose. |

I love the tonality, lines, shadows, overall dynamic range, sharpness and the with the addition of a person, which adds to the perspective, you have a wonderful image. I agree having a person walk the other set of stairs would be rich. Awesome image. |

It is a very nice image. It is sharp and lovely and is very dynamic. It is level and your position allows me to view the train immediately as I my eye enters the frame. My only suggestion is to lighten it a little with shadow reduction. Nothing like an old steam engine. Oh, by the way, what sort of detail can you provide on processing? Is it jpeg out of camera, or post processed with certain software and if so, what software to edit and convert to monochrome and what type of adjustments did you use in your software to get your image the way you presented it. That is helpful to our study group members especially if we are asking questions or making suggestions about the exposure. |
