Jerry, I don't care for the monochrome version. It seems so one dimensional in tone and frankly uninteresting. The color version is very nice and looks wonderful in color. I suspect it will look great in monochrome, too. My reason? Well I think the leaves and the structure, foreground pavement, extended view of the wall, lengthier view of structural supports and roof frames adds balance which is missing in the cropped version. |

Very nice structural detail, tonality and capture of this old building. I like it. Well done. |

The monochrome conversion is excellent and the subject is very interesting and shows a lot of detail. I believe the symmetry has some issues at the top area which is an interesting architectural characteristic of imbalance. Also, I actually find the arch distracting. Finally, on the left side or right depending on view point shows the frame slicing through the arches left or right of the statues unmatched. For me, that is distracting for it upsets the symmetry. |

Wonderful image. I think you have accomplished a wonderful focus and angle, although, Chris raises a possible thing to consider regarding angle of view. I think the image could be slightly enhanced if the two towers were a tad straighter with a little tightening of the lens correction. |

I love the concept of this image with its strong shadow and light balance and tonal expression. The story is very special and grabs my attention. In response to your inquiry, I offer an alternate crop that keeps the original balance, establishes a slight different position of the thirds and tightens, for me, the focus on the bicyclist. I even moved some spots to keep the eyes right on the bicyclist. Well done, well seen and wonderful monochrome. |

The subject, landscape layers, composition and story is nice. I agree with Chris about the angle of view wherein the roof beam and line get lost. I think the while the tonality is splendid in so many ways, that perhaps toning down the contrast might enhance the feel. I also feel that the shadows on the cabin face and right side might be opened up a little. |
