Hi, Barbara. I think it is delightful and artsy...sometimes, it is best to "not give a haut" about competition worthiness. I have started doing that for the last for years and just do what pleases me and sometimes even missing that mark. I enjoy all though. |

Paul, it is a nice HDR Photomatix. The sky could us some enhance to balance the image and enhance interest and add some curve toning. |

Hi, Sharon. You have a fine image here. I do think a couple of things got my attention.
First, the color is lovely, I live the composition of the image for it is sharp and the texture is well defined.
Second, when I first looked at the image, the curved branch in the water ahead of the perch distracted me and still does. I think, it could be removed and help to enhance the viewers seeing of the bird. I agree about the hot spot in the background.
I always enjoy seeing your work. |

Stan, Thanks for sharing your experience. I sure hope it goes well. We just got notified by Royal Caribbean today that Colon, Panama got cancelled and now we get more time in Cartagena due to some port accommodations issues at Colon. We were hoping to see the Panama Canal.
We go for our mandatory Pre Cruise COVID Test for Royal Caribbean tomorrow. We hope it goes well and we leave Friday Morning for Galveston. We are looking forward d to this trip. I decided to take just my iPhone 13 Pro and a tiny Sony DSC-HX90V Superzoom and just focus on fun in the sun and catch a couple of light captures when the spirit moves me and leave the bigger stuff home. |

Jerry, your information is helpful in understanding your thought process. BTW, I use Markins Q20 Ball Head with a Gitzo Tripod and a collar mount on my long lenses with the camera attached or I use a gimbal and lock it in place and also attached to the lens collar mount. |

Helen, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately on the day of departure after we had checked into our flight from Richmond, Virginia. We received a phone call from Road Scholar (the travel service) that there was something wrong with the small cruise ship and the 4 week trip was cancelled. We managed to get our check luggage back and go back home. That was the fastest vacation in history. That was a real bummer.
So I am home for a couple more days where my wife and I have immediately implemented plan "B" and we are taking a 17 trip including a 13 day Royal Caribbean cruise leaving from Galveston, Texas to Colon, Panama; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Columbia; Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and ending in Bayonne, New Jersey as gateway to New York City with a few night to see a broadway show and go to the Metropolitan opera before taking the train back to Richmond, VA. We will leave later this week. |

The monochrome conversion is very nice and I love the detail that exists just to the right of the shadows. I have always used 1/125 to 1/250 (very good for capturing shadows and details) at f/11 and even f/16 is possible. That is what I see discussed by those who suggest how to photograph the moon, too. If a SLR or DSLR is being used, I believe being on a tripod is essential as well as using mirror up to keep the lens stable to avoid any reduction in sharpness thus counteracting the motion of earth and moon. |

I like you image a lot, Helen. I think that it is a wonderful study in lines, shapes and light vs. shadow. I have been in watching the comments somewhat torn between agreeing with Stan and Lance about cropping the grass out and keeping the foreground in the image. Instead, I have have decided it is best to keep it. What about blurring the grassy area some and toning it down, instead? |

Don, your image is very good. I do like Lance's suggested crop and agree with Stan that getting more detail in the model's hair would, in my opinion, enhance the image. |

I like your monochrome conversion and I certainly think this subject is interesting and well detailed. I am sure being in Black and White, it offers us a far better image then a color version. I agree with Stan that toning down the foreground grass will reduce some distraction. |

I agree. Thanks for sharing that perspective. I, too, think it didn't work as well as I had thought it would initially in mono. |

Hi, Andy. Wonderful image. I like the effect with the softer look; a pastel like tone and texture. Very nice job. |

Hi, Carol. Lovely image with wonderful color! I think the image could be toned down just a bit with slight contrast and/or curve adjustment or as Tom mentioned exposure adjustment.
BTW, I hope to do a Costa Rica trip soon for photography. In a week or so, I will visit Puerto Limon, but on a cruise ship stop and I do not plan to do much photography of wildlife. |
