Your image is quite nice. Chicago is such a great city for panoramic skylines, intimate skylines and the multiplicity of vantage points for such skylines. |

I think both images work quite nicely. The story changes as does the focus. When creating such an image, it depends on who the viewer is. A cruise ship tour marketing image would certainly be interested in the original. An audience interested in Greece and the Aegean Islands might be more interested in the crop variation. An image created for the right category in competition might open you up to thinking about it even further. Personally the travel photo could come about both ways. Regardless, I like your scene in either way. |

I like the image, but thought with some humor, that if Rick had been on tour from that cruise ship, it would be left behind...but that would make available a whole array of image captures while waiting to find his way home some other way. |

This is an interesting approach for a portrait. I like your original high-key conversion for its softness. The alternate suggested by Jennifer is very nice, too, although it gives us a very different feel in terms in it being more contrast oriented. |

Helen, thanks for comment and question. It is one of the DxO Nik Silver Efex Pro Sepia presets that I then adjusted extensively for film grain, fade-away and digital framing. |

It is a nice graphic presentation. However, it doesn't work for me. Perhaps if there were fewer words and phrases which might not be directly related to each other and the message be focused with one specific poignant word or phrase as a story, it might resonate more for me. |

It has a tad more detail, but I don't know what you did in that you said you resorted to cheating. So, "No", I can't spot what you are referring to. Perhaps that is not important, because I like what you did. |

I like your image a lot! I feel you have done a nice job with your original sepia conversion as well as the variation you attached in your response to Jerry F.
My only suggestion is to get a little more detail in the driver's face as was captured in the original and is lost some in the sepia conversion. |

Thanks for the comment, Jerry. I usually, as in this case, try to do a review and comment without seeing what the dialogue has been so that I am not influenced by that conversation. I see in looking the dialogue what you are doing, but just seeing the image standing alone, I still think the same way. I will say that I was impressed with Mr. Evan's image for how it communicated to me very succinctly, so given that I see what you were trying to do, but wonder if you could have edited the image a bit differently to give a similar feel. I thought Evan's image had significant impact for me. |

I am not sure what the subject is and feel, unfortunately that it is more of a snap shot requiring me to figure out the story. It is not simple and easy to look, since it is so busy with various details. It does have nice old film feel. |

Your tonal variations are quite nice. I like the image and relate to it having photographed from this location a couple of times. I think less foreground would enhance the view, theme and story. |

I would argue that it is not monochrome because it's not variations of color within the same manner that black and white is or a brown tones as in sepia is for various tonal variations and shared tone qualities of a red or a blue. This seems set apart very contrastingly with another color which in this case you've got red contrasting very dramatically with black. |

There is a wonderful abstract geometry in the image. I like the repeating shapes and patterns here because my eyes can peacefully as well playfully stay wandering with in this image. |

I find this sepia tone choice interesting. However, I struggle with the image overall because there are so many patterns and geometric shapes as well as patches that I become restless in knowing what I am to really look at. So overall the image doesn't work for me. |
