Lovely image and composition. Brightening it some would be the enhancement that will make it sing. |

Very nicely done, Sharon. I like it a lot. I wonder if rotated very slightly down a tad on the right to level what I think is a slight tilt might be a wonderful enhancement. In all other regards this is a winner with a lot of dramatic feeling in it. |

Excellent image. I like story a lot and the action. I agree with Stuart, some lightening at the eye would be nice. Well done in capturing this moment and in the mono conversion. |

Stuart, I like your image a lot. The composition, texture, tonality is wonderful. A fine portrait. I have to agree with Jerry that I wish I saw a bit more detail in the eye. Well done. |

Helen, This is a well conceived, viewed, framed, and structured image. The depth of field is quite good and the tonal balance is excellent. I really like how you show us texture, pattern and depth.
This image bring back fond memories for me. When I was a senior property manager at Continental Bank in the late 80s and early 90s (the adjacent building), we owned the Rookery before it was sold to a developer. My staff acted in a caretaker role (keeping things from deteriorating more) during that time and I can tell you, it was always a delight to walk through the building. I was exceedingly pleased to find it restored so nicely in subsequent years when it was sold turned into a fine example of one of the great architectural properties in downtown Chicago. |

Stan, I like the composition and story. Your depth of field is excellent. Tonally, though, there seems to me a need to dodge and burn selective in various places to establish some tonal balance. For example, I would like to see shadows on the rock opened slightly up more as well in the brush on the right. Stuart's thoughts about toning down the foreground and my thought to light the sky uniformly a bit seems to be another aspect of what I perceive as a way bring tonal balance into the image. |

I like your image, Don for tonal contrast, composition and story. Unless as mentioned by others, I can barely see any loss of sharpness on the cleat...at least not enough to capture my attention. I have one consideration, though, what do you think about cropping down from the top some so that the top of the frame is much closer to the rope on the left and the dock on the right. It seems to me when I view with that removed that the focus drives into the story, form, shapes, etc. even more. |

There is a slight grain, Helen and Stuart, in the sky, but that doesn't bother me for the rest of the image has, I believe, a strong sharp structure. I left the sky where it was without further cropping so that I could garner some of the city of reflection but keep it subdued. No I didn't try to remove the grain, Stuart. |

Jerry, This is a nice meeting of line, curves, form and pattern to evoke curiosity and sensible feeling. I find the tonality pleasing and desirable to continuing looking. Perhaps, Helen, has hit the target by suggesting that it is sensuous to view. Nicely done and I have no suggestions for enhancement. Run with this one where ever it takes you. |

Excellent story and I very much like the tonality of your image. The discussion offers some nice insights into ways of seeing and keep our eyes undistracted within the frame. While I agree with the comments about the highlights, they didn't resonate with me initially (not seeming particularly bothersome) because I thought they just effected the scene in ways I could very easily imagine and relate to. Very nice image and you have a group with a lot of fine images over the many rounds. |

Splendid monochrome of this iconic falls. Well done. I love the tonality and intimate detail which is so full of motion and power along with something etherial. The image can tell multiple stories if we don't even know the title. |
