Gee, that sure doesn't work for me. It subdued the color and drama too much and took away the foaming creek. Nonetheless, thanks for the thoughts. BTW, to all in the group, thanks for your impressions. For the most part I do not agree especially regarding color and crop. You just would have to have been there to appreciate the vivid and dramatic conditions. The comment about edge sharpening in the near ground actually is mist glow. Very little sharpening done to this image, but some clarity and some light dehazing done.
Anyway, always interesting to see the various thoughts. |

I like your image, Judith, a lot. I think the composition has a wonderful artistic license so that our imagination looks at both with a sense of calm reality as well as some abstraction. For me, it works wonderfully presented as you did and I feel a sense of softness that is just right. Not every image must be when presented artistically have to be photographically tact sharp. For me it suggests the things that my mind and emotion can play with. |

Wonderful color and composition in my opinion. However, from my perspective, the image is very, very soft and thus my eye strains to find detail to fix on. My thoughts are more about original focus, camera shake or where is the focus point. If the image isn't sharp to begin with out of the camera dependent on focus point or other technical attributes, then sharpening in post processing can be challenging. |

Wonderful focus on the mother tiger. I like it. The motion suggested by the activity around the mother helps to enhance the serenity and patience that we see with the well focussed mother tiger. I like the color, tone, sharpness. Just fine job. I don't know about PSA exhibit submissions for this image (I don't pay much attention to that element of PSA), but I certainly think the image is worth of competition. |

I like your image. Tonal range is wonderful from light to full dark. I like the focus and detail of the elephant. Nicely done. I think if there was a little more room on the right and top depending on your framing or cropping, it would be enhance your image. |

I agree with Stan about this being a fine art piece and nicely done dramatic composition. I like the classic look. However, I do find the lines of the railing a bit distracting given the inherent lens distortion. I think this image could be shot from a different perspective to avoid this. |

Wonderful composition and story. I think the foreground lack of clarity, sharpness and even resolution a bit disconcerting. Except for that this is a fine image in my opinion. |

This image beautifully replicates in monochrome this wonderful square. Well done. Change nothing (splendid tonality) about it unless you can give a bit more room at the top of the bell tower. |

I like the image compositionally and find nothing distracting about the image and rather like the subject. From a purest monochrome conversation perspective, I think the blacks are a bit overwhelming in the sky and thus even makes the front main roof seem even more dark. You might consider lightening the that portion of the roof to be more in balance the rest of the roof as well as toning down the black in the clouds. |

While I fully understand the comments, I defined in my description that the image was an attempt to meet a challenge where the emphasis is on black as a color. I may not have met the intent of such a challenge from all perspective, but if you Google the topic there are images using the color black where one can find that the details we often seek to unfold in monochromatic images are allowed to fully succumb to "black" where detail is is minimized and obscrued. I will say, I neither agree or disagree with the concept at this point (that evolves), but wondered what folks thought within that "context", not how to create the ideal monochromatic image. |
