Malabika, I think I have seen this elsewhere (smile). Just a high and another vote for a fine image. The sky is wonderful as is. I like it a lot. |

Beautiful image, capture with nice color and detail. I think the background could be a tad darker...matter of taste I think. Well done. |

Lovely scene. I think something is askew with regard to resolution. I do not agree that pano is the solution for options, but rather an option. What I find, I believe, is some resolution issue with the original image and a need to use is selective opening of shadows, adding clarity, selective sharpening and some levels/curves adjustment...but I don't think the jpeg can be edited to get there...my attempt failed. |

Carol, it is cute. In my opinion, the duck is very soft and needs more pop regarding its color harmony, detail and sharpness. Viveza, unsharp masking, contrast, etc. can help, as suggested. I also believe that the highlights on the diagonal line behind the ducks head are distracting. |

I like you nice and sharp monochrome. The details are pleasing and I am led into the image effectively. My only suggestion is a little more "flying" space above the lead bird's wing. If that is not possible due to the original framing, then cropping on the right very slighting might offer some balance without loosing some "flying" space to the right to minimize the viewers tension, in my opinion, with the tightness at the top. |

Happy New Year everyone. Thanks for the comments. I am glad many like the image. I think the "hole" in the clouds that some are fixated on is an enhancing element and adds just what Judith suggests a little drama and for me a break in sky. The horizon is, in my opinion, nicely framed at slightly below center. I prefer not crop, if I can avoid it and to be faithful to what I saw originally when all appears well as framed. I will concede, they are suggested options and I might very well create other versions but, in the end I like it as it is.
BTW when I first learned photography I was frequently admonished to avoid cropping. I then over time evolved into cropping to get the image to look artistically the way I think it needs to look. Recently I returned to some "old school" thinking and decided I crop too much (sort of a crutch for poor framing and composition in the camera). On the images I recently took during the Caribbean cruise, I opted to attempt to frame and reduce how much I crop so I can return to basics...i.e., framing in camera. Of course, there are always exceptions & there were exceptions--indeed a few pano crops.
Judith, I wonder what are you seeing about trees or skyscrapers? I had to chuckle at that....they are dramatic clouds on the horizon.
By the way, Sharon, the system is not sending me notifications even though I have Notifications turned on. |
