I love this image--it almost looks painted! That fur (I'm sure it isn't called fur, but I don't know what to label it) is incredible...I feel like the sharpness, the detail in the capture, the crop, the textures and the feeling of depth with your lights and shadows all work quite well here. I'm weird about "horizon lines" so you might straighten the wood piece on the right in your image...it won't change anything about the bee, but as a viewer, it nags at me and is a simple fix. Very, very well done! |

I think orchids are one of the most difficult macros to shoot because of the depth. You have captured nice detail in this; I enlarged it and your center is spot on. It's a very interesting angle, especially without focus stacking AND handheld. I might suggest you play with the lighting a bit on those outer petals? Was it in sun or shade? There's just something about the lighting that I can't put my finger on. If I knew more about the environment when you captured it, I might be able to say more? |

I really love this! The texture, the combination of colors, and the composition are all really working together to create a wonderful image. It's funny that we generally think first of plants and insects in macro, but this subject is perfect and very captivating. Well done! |

Whoa, that's quite a set-up!! Do you guys have platypod access there? I don't know if it would offer equipment that is comparable to this, but it is definitely more compact and light. I'd love to see what this can do on a bug. |

The depth of field doesn't bother me. I generally find that I have to raise the shadows and darker tones in post...it would be great on his little face. You have the back end nicely captured. I also wouldn't worry about the tiger lily--it just looks like part of a nice even orange environmental background and is a nice contrast to your insect. Antennas are hard to capture because they don't stop moving for long. Nice shot. |

Margaret, this is a wonderful image...it's abstract but at the same time, it looks very artistic, like a capture of a glass wave! Great job. It is an amazing image and very much qualifies as a macro shot. Nothing says a macro shot can't be creatively captured. |
