Yes, I see what you are talking about. I think a lower number on the opacity would have been better. It's too harsh. |

Thanks Pat! I love textures, too. Some come out better than others. |

I'm wondering if what you are referring to is where I softened it so it didn't stand out too sharply against the background? If the edges are sharp, it looks superimposed and unnatural. But perhaps I did a less-than-stellar job on my edges. |

This is a wonderful image...very sharp with good depth, colors that work well together, and a super composition. F9 appears to have been the perfect choice as the background doesn't compete with the main subject but it is still and "environmental" portrait. Unlike Stuart, I don't want to see the two flowers darkened. I really think this image is perfect as is. |

I got a bit confused in the description of your goal vs. what you have posted. I don't see one focus-stacked image that reflects 11 images. The biggest difficulty for me is that the brightest part of your main image is blurry. Since it is the first thing my eyes go to, it disturbs my viewing. I do feel the purple center is very well done--beautiful colors and sharp detail with some depth. |

I am loving this, Stuart! Great shot! It has very moody lighting, which I think was intentional? His eye being the brightest thing works great here, but I would like to see his body exposure brought up just the barest bit so he has more contrast with the background. Beautiful use of light and shadow! |

I like your little spider and your capture works fine. I would definitely like to see a closer crop, but the yellow works very well to set him off (notice I said "him," lol. I don't know how to identify the spider genders). Your leading lines also work well to draw the viewer's eye right toward your main subject. |

Yes, Stuart, you are so right--this was taken some time ago and not focus-stacked, but as I put in my comments, it should have been. I did add this texture in Photoshop--and it isn't my own. I think it from French Kiss. I was just playing around and trying different things. And I just did a webinar on incorporating textures; you can spend many hours playing with them in Photoshop.
