Everything Stuart said. He really knows way more about focus stacking than I do. I was having a similar problem until I re-read about my options for focus stacking, and discovered that one type would focus on the front and move back in small increments, while the other started in the middle of the subject and moved forward, then back. That front tine really needs to have the focus--otherwise, it looks like you might have smudged it or even used cloning on it in post (I've seen it get that blur from some of the photoshop tools). You are really progressing, though!!! |

Very interesting! Looks like ice crystals!! You are a better person than I am--no way I am stacking 43 images!! But what was the focal plane? I'm very curious about your set-up for this and what the subject looked like. Nice job! The lighting is very even and lends itself well to the depth of your subject. |

Yes, I was very close. The 30mm Macro lens for the Olympus doesn't have much working space. A good place to shoot Macros is at the aquarium--we have a small one that doesn't have glass on the tops of many of the tanks so you can shoot from the top. But I believe this was through the glass front of one. It's also incredibly clean!! |
