I'm always wary of over-sharpening but would love to get a consensus on that question…and welcome the input on that. This was taken without the ability to focus stack or to use a tripod, but if the out of focus areas are too prominent, I'd love to know how it feels to others? |

This all feels very balanced, with a nice tight crop, and beautifully sharp features. The way you've captured the water really complements the nail, with the water line cupping around it but appearing as a nice soft opaque blue. It is a very, very pleasing image; great capture! |

Haha, I like what you've done, Tom! The lighting is so pretty on him…and he looks great against the black. Super macro! |

You have certainly captured great depth of field with this,so kudos! The reds and greens and the contrast also work well. As a subject, I'm not excited by it, but I believe this was more about the stacking and not about the crop? |

What a gorgeous image! The color combination, repeating patterns and swirls of leading lines created by both color and contrast give this not only initial high impact but continuing interest. The crop works so well for it, too! I love this image! |

I personally would shoot again with focus stacking. Your center is so nice and sharp; with the large out-of-focus area right up front, it spoils all the work you've done to obtain that great center piece. The triptych is a lovely idea, though, once you have all three pieces. |

The diagonal positioning on this feels very pleasing, with the colors lending an additional hit of artistry. I felt the sharpness was very appropriate to the subject-if it was too sharp, it would have given it an entirely different impact. Beautifully done, in my opinion. |
