Okay, I must say, Tom's rework is excellent! I am sorry if I missed anything when I viewed it; I am seeing a degrading in my vision that I understand may be the beginnings of a cataract in one eye. I appreciate the better vision of you all! |

We all miss things when we look at them for so long. That's why the DD groups are so valuable!!

Yes, I have also struggled with this concept...although I often hear it! They feel the same to me. Maybe I fall in the middle somewhere, LOL. Point taken from all input as to the lighter side of the melon; I will attempt to fix that. Thanks for all your valuable insights!

Keith, this is, to me, one of the hardest types of shots to do in Macro. But you have done it perfectly--lined it up well, gotten a nice sharp reflection in the water drops, and a great composition and background to set it all off. The lighting feels very appropriate and even to me, without any obvious hotspots, as does the sharpness throughout. If there is any softness in the ed plant, that is a natural part of these images, but truly it looks great to me. Very, very nice shot! |

Tom, I know this isn't your usual, but it is really well executed! I really don't know that I would do anything to it, other than when shooting, make sure not to cut off just one petal and the tip of one leaf. It makes it look accidental instead of intentional for me at least. But I like how sharp this is, and I like the slightly off-center look with the stem coming out the side as you have it. Kudos on the new puppy and have fun! I like the name Ian! |

The twisting lines of this work so well, especially given the subtle texture and the closely-aligned colors. Nice lighting and I like your focus...it feels very good to me as a viewer. I've used a Macro rail and you've done a good job with it. Nicely done, Pat! |

The way the light comes through as backlighting and picks up all the texture on this is really stunning. The crop works well for it, too. Seems like your new equipment is working really well for you...53 images!! But its perfectly in focus front to back! The black background also makes this really stand out. Great job! |

You have captured great balance on the black and white detail; there's lots of information in your shadows and in your highlights. As a macro abstract, it is very pleasing to the eye: sharp and with a good crop. Looks like f8 was just right since you didn't indicate focus stacking. |

Fran, this is a very striking image, partially due to the clarity, partially due to the beautiful color combinations, and partially due to the nice even lighting that seems to wrap around your flower and bring out all the textures and patterns so well. Kudos to you; I think this is perfect as is. If anyone is bothered by the lower right-hand size and suggests you crop it, I might see that, but then I think it would be too tight, so a better alternative would be to take a white paintbrush and softly white that area out so the petal blends white into the sides just like on the left side.
