I will try that suggestion re: exposure. Do you mean it is oversaturated looking? Or do you mean it's whites are too white/bright?
I love C.R.; if you do go back and wish to travel with a small (very small) group of dedicated but easy-going photographers, let me know!

Its funny...at first I thought I was looking at the shell because of the rock's shape, then I realized what you were saying. Great imprint, and your lighting has caught the texture and is sharp enough in focus to really show it to advantage. The top edges have a bit of blur, so maybe f11 would have been an alternative, or focus-stacking, but I love this capture. I also would love to see the frame filled with the rock, with less of the stunningly-blue background. So sorry about the late posting. |

Me, too. As it turns out, the timing was Kismet. |

Thank you for your positive input! I'm also glad not to do extreme trekking these days. |

Very little cropping because I was using my Canon 50d with Macro lens. I was twisted down and under a leafy tree and was quite close. |

Yes, you are right about that! This is the benefit of more pairs of eyes on our images! |

Keith, this is a beautifully done image...and not that easy to get without hotspots so I feel like you've done a fantastic job on the lighting of this. The detail and spacing feels just right. Other than that slightly lighter corner on the upper left, this is a very well-done capture! My question is: is the 105 a Macro lens, or did you take the image and then crop in very close? You said "micro," and that might be just a Nikon term. |

Close-up number three was my favorite, and this is a very cool macro subject. Beautiful detail as it moves toward the back. I would like to see more light on the pill pug's head in the largest magnification, but that's a very personal preference. |

The diagonal composition is wonderful, along with the clarity and texture. I feel like I can touch it and feel the ridges and wrinkles. I feel like it is perfect exactly as you have displayed it; the second one doesn't work as well, in my opinion. Beautifully lit as well; really great! |

There's a lot of strength in this image from the combination of colors and the nice clarity. Good even lighting with just the barest hint of shadows to create its depth. |

Great image! I like both versions (B/W and color). Sharp focus and interesting lighting. Fun experiment! |
