If you haven't had Pumpkin Pie, you are really missing a treat! It is a traditional dish at this time of year. |

Wow, a difficult shot when you aren't on a tripod! And it looks like DOF has already been commented on. I would also suggest a larger aperture, not smaller. That would have given you balanced focus. For me, I see that some of the flower is very sharp, but then some isn't. You can do this unless the out-of-focus pieces get too close to your foreground. Same mistake I made on mine this month. And then you have to watch the background!! Softer might have been better for the stem and right-hand side, or fix in post if necessary. On the plus side, your lighting feels really good. Welcome to our Macro group! |

Your crop choice and choice of DOF came together well for me in this image. f4 could have even been f8 for just a bit more clarity toward the very back, but it doesn't seem necessary to my point of view. I like the way the very center is framed by the petals...it almost feels like it is being held in the palms of two hands. Great image and so good to have you in our group! |

My favorite part of this image personally is the play of light and dark tones. The gold tones are stunning and really pulled it all together for me. Good use of diagonal lines. Very sharp focus and pretty, but subtle, lighting. Great use of a feather! |

Stuart, I think you've done a great job with the capture of the flower with a wonderful feeling of overall sharpness. The perspective is also very pleasing for me in this image in that it feels like it is coming toward me. Did you consider removing that vertical blade of grass (or leaf?). It does detract for me because it pulls my eye to it repeatedly. I think removing it and decreasing the clarity on the overall background would be something to try? |

Your capture of the moths feels wonderfully sharp to me. Nice soft and pleasing background. My only suggestion would be that it isn't exactly feeling like a Macro shot, in that the moths are so small in terms of the overall image. I would like to see what removing some of this excessive background would do. |

Everything works so well together in this image, and technically, it is superb. The lighting is stunning, in addition to the combination of colors. Makes me feel like fall leaves and pumpkin pie! Great image! |

I understand, and for some flowers, I would have set my f stop to enable this. This was specifically to place the emphasis on that y area near the front. It is something I learned from Kathleen Clemons. |
