95 Jul 21 Reply Right you are! Thanks for drawing my attention to it; sometimes we look at these things so long, we don't see them! Jul 11th
95 Jul 21 Comment Very cool treatment! Great colors and pattern. You took a good image and made it into art! Jul 10th
95 Jul 21 Comment Good morning and welcome, Abdul! The pose of the bee makes the greatest impact, giving this a feeling of an event just about to happen. He is posing like a rearing horse about to leap off a small cliff! The backlight is great, and if you lift the shadows just a little bit more and maybe raise the white point, I think your image will have more pop. It feels a bit dark to my eyes still. Overall, I enjoy this image, and the soft background feels perfect to me, whereas I struggled somewhat with the frontal blur of the cactus. Jul 10th
95 Jul 21 Comment You are right: there is something so appealing about the light falling in a dappled pattern on the subject. I would love to try this with a diffuser in place, though, to see how it looks without the sharp shadow lines. After watching a few webinars by Kathleen Clemons, I am starting to see the benefit of this--even though I had to really compare befores and afters to appreciate it. Another thing she said which hit home is to "avoid the blobs," so easy to get in macro work. Its those little niggling out-of-focus petals or limbs that occlude right from in front :-(. This same type of bud with less activity would be another thing to compare to. Jul 10th
95 Jul 21 Reply Stuart, to answer your question, no, didn't have to crop much. But after experimenting, I have decided that the noise at ISO1600 for macro work is just too much, despite all the post-processing options I've tried. Fortunately, I don't often have to use this ISO.

I'm glad you liked the dreaminess; that was my goal in this one.
