Thank you for all your input! I always begin with brightening, but I found that in this case, it didn't reflect what I wanted when making things brighter. Why 5.6? Because I didn't want to go any higher than 1600 ISO. Bringing the aperture to a more narrow setting would have blocked even more light. And at 1/25 without a tripod, that couldn't go any lower for me. Yes, familiar with Charles' work. I prefer the look of Kathleen Clemons for floral images. |

Good question and thanks for not taking offense at my feedback. It's based on my own personal perspective and may not be shared by others. Try the vibrance slider, not saturation. But first and foremost, increase your white point. If you go slowly, then you can stop before blowing out too many highlights. Small areas can be fixed with an adjustment brush locally at the highlight. Hope this helps? When color seems muted or muddy, increases in brightness and luminance help. You could try increasing the luminescence on the Orange or the yellow but use the pinpoint tool so you pick from a specific area. |

Hmmm, well without your explanation of what it was, I wouldn't have known. Great leading lines to pull the viewer's eye around. It would be nice to see a wasp in the image, but then, I wouldn't want to get that close to a wasp!
Unfortunately, for me, the colors feel a bit "muddy" and, because of that, also not crystal clear. Not my favorite of your images, sorry to say :-( |

Very interesting--the strong impact of the colors, along with the interesting shape, captured my attention right away. My personal preference would be to have no background elements, as I feel they create a busy-ness that detracts from your wonderful subject. Maybe inserting a white piece of foam core board? Or somehow changing the shooting perspective? But I do like your subject and overall composition! |
