Converting it to Black and White was a great choice. Catching everyone's legs in mid-march also works great for your image, reflecting both unity and motion within this small group. The spacing among the individuals and your crop also lend themselves to the power of this image. I do not find her forehead merging with the backpack to be a distraction at all and wouldn't have even thought about it if you hadn't called it out. I do love seeing all the different outfits, including the heavy boots on the girl toward the front rear. |

Perfect combination of textures and the image. You did a superb job of blending them while blocking out the background from the original. It looks very natural. Another thing that works well are the pleasing colors of his clothing combined with the guitar against your soothing choice of background. I do like where you've softened the edges of the subject. There appears to be a scratch or something...right near his neck, and I can't figure out where it is coming from? What a great image!! |

The colors and the composition are beautiful in this image; I love the way she is holding the scarf out with the light picking out the detail of the scarf. I do not know what I am feeling from the rocks and her clothing...its not exactly color noise, but there's something there. I wonder if there's any way to "pop it" a bit, so there's some vibrance to the lighting? I know that's not very helpful, but I can't put my finger on it. This image is good and worth seeing what can be done to brighten it or increase clarity somewhat? |

The perspective on this is perfect--taken from behind the speaker. The eyes of the audience immediately drew my attention. Black and white is an excellent treatment for this, as well as the wide tonal range you've captured. The different height levels of the audience also work well in the composition of this. Its very human-interest; great image! |

What a fun image...and now that I've read the article about what the parameters of a travel image are (I originally was thinking to join a Travel Group, but Street was the alternative), this fits for that, too. Great sense of place. Now, something has changed between the original and your crop with the horizon line. It feels like it has tilted, and that is one thing I would change. The second suggestion is to crop a bit more on the right (only as long as you already decided to crop) to eliminate the partial boat and the dock corner. It has a nice triangular feel to the image, though, which works well to keep my eyes inside the scene. |

Oh my!! Or as a little girl in my n'hood said the other day when I showed her a picture: "Oh My Stars!" So cool! This first strikes me as an abstract, except you can see the texture so you actually do know its an extreme macro!! The combination of colors works very well; I wouldn't change anything about it. I'd love to see this in a frame!

Hi Stuart, lovely detail in this! The lights and darks combined work well to create definition in this; I wondered what it looked like in color but now I think this is in color, as I can see a bit of color on the righthand side and top corners. Have you tried the Vibrance slider in LR, or the Sponge tool with Saturation turned on (set to 10%) in PS? You can brush some color back in selectively. I can now see more and more that it is there, but so subtle! It would add to the shape on the white areas. |

Bill, I feel like the combination of colors, along with the clarity overall, makes this a stand-out image. I actually do like the original crop, with the bit of stem removed perhaps? The reason I say this is that I feel the tightness of the crop in the pistel and stamens (not sure that's the right word?). Since you can't eliminate all background areas, why not consider leaving them in and allowing your flower some breathing room? It's a great shot! |
